Clive Staples Lewis, mainly known as C. S. Lewis, family and friends often called him "Jack", was a novelist, poet, academic, medievalist, literary critic, essayist, lay theologian, broadcaster, and Christian apologist born in Belfast, Ireland. He held academic positions at Oxford University (Magdalen College), 1925–1954, and Cambridge University (Magdalene College), 1954–1963. He is renowned for fictional works, particularly The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Space Trilogy, as well as non-fiction Christian apologetics like Mere Christianity, Miracles, and The Problem of Pain.
