  • I think the DS one is scarier because you expect it to attack you immediately but it doesn't, luring you in with a false sense of security before attacking when you least expect it.
  • Jesus when I was eight I would be scared if going to sleep. I would always think that the fucking piano was outside my door.

"What are you afraid of?" "Heights, Spiders and.... Pianos." "Haha, why Pianos?" Cue Video
  • @tailuigi
Huh. The room it's in is piano-shaped.
  • @Spanishdog17
Just learned today this a reference to a Japanese horror movie made in 1977 called "House" which has a stop motion piano that eats a girl.

Scared me as a kid... 8 years later I replayed the game and forgot about the piano. Jumpscared me a second time... This just never seems to get old...

When I was 7 my grandma had a piano just like that and I was ALWAYS scared if I go near it it will start doing that shit.
  • @zexionfan15
That piano is totally a mimic and I never realized it until much later in my life.
  • @1gnore_me.
I love that if the piano touches the chair, it knocks it over. this is the only stationary chair in the entire game, so it's really cool that they programmed that specific interaction.
  • When i first played this on the n64 as a kid I was terrified everytime of this piano still gives me nightmares
  • Once you get used to the beast, he's not so bad, but the first time you encounter that damned thing, you desperately wish you hadn't been so curious...
  • @Serasia
Wow, you can't jump on the old one. The new one waits till you step on it! Clever girl.

I think the DS version is scarier. When I played it when I was a kid, I remember it scared the crap out of me when I got near it. I literally jumped and screamed and then turned off the game really fast and stopped playing it for a while.

I like how the Mad Piano in the 3DS version not only has an upgrade to its graphics and animation, but to its style- it doesn't try to attack you right away. Players who played the first game will be freaked out because they expect it to attack immediately, and new players will be freaked out for the same reason as old players were the first time they played. Nice attention to detail!

FUCK THAT PIANO D: when it first happened to me as a kid i spilt my hot chocolate all over myself
  • I love how this stage uses partially fixed camera angles at times like in horror games!
