I love the awkward silences the interviewer allowed because it pulls more from Jada. It's a great listening tactic most people should utilize because it allows the person communicating to go more in depth. Great job!
  • I’ve never heard Jada apologies for her wrong doings publicly. It’s all about her, her hurt and her pain her healing. What about the people she has hurt .
  • @PBlueturtle
This interview proves that you not only should not, but could not judge anyone. We’re ALL broken and just trying to get through this life.
  • @renpatman
Just that hug! 😢 Stephen, this is what we've been missing in interviews with celebs - instead of wanting something out of them, you understand its an exchange of life experiences. Humanity, empathy and real connection is what makes this such an incredible episode!

The part that really struck me was, I'm paraphrasing: "People who have suicidal thoughts do not truly want to die, but they want a part of them to die." I will think about this for a long time, I have a totally new perspective on this particular topic.

If my wife was talking about how miserable she was with me remixing it 100 ways and bragging about a dead rapper proposed to me, I'd not only divorce, I'd go as far away as possible from such a disturbed and dangerous person.
  • @Phoenix_flying
You are the first interviewer who helped me understand Jada. She has a frosty, elitist exterior…but through all the “educated” pontification, rationalizations, high brow representations, etc, …I see a wounded, vulnerable human being with a false super ego. I feel compassion for her pain. Thank you for helping me understand.

So many people are judging but we've all gone through pain, loss and grief. And there's only so much we can do for ourselves to heal. She lost both her best friends right after her birthday. I pray and hope she finds the peace she's been looking for and that this book tour provides closure 🥺

i find it very hard to believe she isn’t acting manipulative, her speech is slow and controlled, she lingers on words meant to make you feel a certain way, she shakes her head back and forth while saying “honestly” and she speaks with nuance to gauge sympathy it seems, she looks away and immediately watched for a reaction after saying more “troubling” things.
  • @KetoCoachA
Grief is so different and until you have lost someone you loved so dearly with no closure , you will never understand the depths of pain. It’s easy to say “get over it “ because she married someone else doesn’t ease the pain, doesn’t just erase that part of her life. I lost my son 9 yrs ago and his wife is still single …my husband lost his first wife and he still cries it’s been 21 yrs for him. I don’t judge him because there is no time for grief and love doesn’t just die because the person dies it actually gets stronger because your mind needs protection from so much pain. I pray for Jada and her family it’s deep but I commend her for not committing suicide.

"You can deal with it, or it will deal with you." Excellent interview, so much compassion and care from him while holding space for her to dig deep. So much respect for them both.

Mannn….this was such a great interview. He really pulled on Jada’s heart strings. He asked some really good questions and he held space with her.
  • This is my first time listening to this podcast. This guy is a fantastic interviewer. A masterful conversationalist!
  • @ManipuraCentreCo
Steven Bartlett, you did a FANTASTIC job interviewing Jada Pinkett Smith. I love how you held space for her with neutrality so she felt safe to share what she wanted to share. And the hug you gave her was tremendous. Bravo to you!!

I went through things that would give her nightmares!!! I had to be rescued by a swat team. I ran to the other side of the US and he found me and I had to run into a different country. My nightmare wasn’t over there. In my state if one person requests marriage counceling , you both have to go before you can get a divorce. I begged my attorney to get me out of it. She said she couldn’t. I said no matter how good the councelor is, I won’t go back to him. I had already gave him several chances to change because my religion believes in one marriage. I was suppose to go to these counceling sessions 3 times a week for 6 weeks. After the second session as the councelor was leaving he saw my ex try to run me over with his car. I didn’t have to go back after that. The judge told me in all of his years he had never seen such horrible abuse!!! He said it was the worst case he had ever seen. Jada, we all have bad times in life!! Get over it and quit dragging Will through the mud. Quit living in your past and pay attention to the hurt you are causing your husband and your kids. You will lose your whole family if you don’t stop!!!!And for God sakes quit airing all your problems for the whole world to see!!! You have already hurt your husbands career with your shit!! You don’t deserve Will or your beautiful kids!!! Everyone is sick of hearing all of your problems!! You slept with your sons friend!! And you have humiliated Will over and over!!! Sometimes you don’t realize what you have until you lose it!!! You have a wonderful husband and beautiful kids…. For now!!! NEVER sleep with your kids friends and quit comparing Will with 2pac and quit talking about 2 pac!! You are a married woman!!! Act like it!! I hope Will and your kids walk away from you!! You hav damaged Will and your kids beyond repair!!! It’s not all about you!! You are the most selfish and whining person that has no idea your husband and kids hav feelings and you will lose them if you don’t quit!!!!!You lie constantly too. I catch. You lie constantly!!! You were never engaged to 2pac while he was in jail….he was already engaged to someone else!! If you are going to lie you better check the facts first !! You look stupid!!!
  • I really enjoyed listening to Jada. It helped me to see another side of her that have made to appreciate and understand her better. Now I see why she is the way she is... I pray for her.
  • @pudgyplanter1130
I am sorry but I am 12 min. in and I am having such trouble believing that a 7-year-old would feel and say "thank you for being honest" to a father who just rejected her! That is HEARTBREAKING!!! It had to be more impactful than she can admit. That one moment in time probably imprinted the unworthy feelings about men.. more than any other relationship. I found this very interesting and insightful. Steven, we love you and Jada I wish you the very best. Prayers. PS...people need to stop being so cruel! We should learn from each other, and support each other.

Jada seems to be finding herself and loving herself. It’s never too late and I wish her the best on her soul’s journey. If we could all consistently see ourselves through Creator’s eyes and how infinitely loved we are, our problems would disappear.
