did some one say Littlest Pet Shop?
  • @junipermoth
lps is the reason why i still say "oh my dog"

LPS videos literally taught me how to play with toys, I’m not kidding. Little autistic me would just line them up and not touch them until I watched a video and was like “OHHH! That’s what I’m supposed to do! Okay!” And then I’d just mimic the video word for word.

One of my professors worked for mattel earlier in her career and she casually dropped the fact that she designed the packaging for LPS during class one day. I don't think she realized at the time how big of a deal that was to people our age, but the whole class flipped and we basically spent the last hour of class talking about things she had worked on in her career. I already loved her before that, but she gained some major respect that day.

The jealous rage I felt as a young lad watching girls play with these was indescribable. The injustice, the society.

There's something about a bobblehead cat with the voice of an adult woman explaining the impacts of COPPA that is really surreal to me

One of the most mindblowing experiences I had was finding out a girl I befriended in high school was actually an lps channel I was subscribed to as a kid. It makes me laugh to think about bc I had completely forgotten about lbstube until she told me and was embarrassed about it for some reason lol

I had an UNGODLY amount of this growing up. Each with own names, families and drama. It was like a multi generational neighborhood of my insane only child imagination.

I remember growing out of my lps phase, so I put all my lps stuff into a box and handed it to a random little girl at a McDonald’s. She was wearing an lps t-shirt so I figured they would have a good home. She and her mom were so excited. It’s probably one of my happiest memories.

"You'll stop caring about toys" while Izzy sits on front of a massive Garfield plushie collection

say what you will about LPS popular, but the drama, intensity, and absolute hold on the viewer was THERE. I still rewatch it sometimes when I'm feeling nostalgic hahaha

Fun fact! I used to have one of the comicon cats, an authentic! My "friend" decided to throw her out the window as a prank and I lost her in the grass. Didn't find her until the next day when my mom ran her over with the lawnmower. No, she didn't make it

I was obsessed with these because they were one of the few “girl toys” that weren't aggressively pink and sparkly....that didn't last long
  • @petrelli231
C'mooooon embrace your inner Jenny Nicholson and please give us that full 2 hour LPS Popular breakdown

I remember lying on the floor and walking my LPS around just to watch their bobbleheads in action, they were so satisfying to me. When gen 3 came and they made all the heads stiff as a rusty door it really turned me (and I think a lot of others) off. Still have a big box of over 300 gen 2 LPS under my bed, going through them is such a nostalgic trip.

Watching LPStube one of the first things that got me into story telling. I sort of want to continue this, only replacing the physical toys with various art mediums to tell stories (with a big emphasis on fantasy since that hooked me more than school drama)

“What’s cringe today, might be the next biggest thing in the future” is honestly a hugely inspiring quote

as a kid i was absolutely distraught when i saw the redesign. i’m pretty sure that's a big reason i stopped playing with them. i'm 18 now so i probably definitely wouldn't be playing with them anyways lol but part of me wonders how much longer i would have played with them.. they were my favorite toys and the only ones i kept when i decided to get rid of my toys haha.
  • @DeadHouseMouse
Well now I’m thinking about how it’s entirely possible that Popular at least partially inspired Euphoria
