Whether your religious or not, and whether you like musicals or not, you cant deny JCS is epic and a classic.

I've never understood why "Jesus Christ Superstar" isn't shown on tv/cable every Good Friday. It doesn't matter what religion you follow, or if you don't follow any at all -- the music alone is awesome!

I love how all of the cast members legitimately love each other like family. The beginning where they all hug Teddy is absolutely adorable and wholesome

I've been dreaming for years something like this would come around, I am 54 now in 2023, thankfully my parents bought this album when it came out. As a very young boy the cover intrigued me, as I became old enough to drop a record and put the needle on it, I was hooked, my hole life I have turned others onto JCS, I just love everything about it, to see this reunion is fantastic , thank you. Ps, I've probably watched the film 300 times, and always cry and laugh and thank God it was made
  • I had the pleasure of being on tour, briefly, with Ted Neely when he reprised this role. He is a beautiful human being...a real, class act!!!

I love this cast so freaking much. RIP Carl Anderson and Barry Dennen, true Superstars.
  • When Neeley and Jewison talked about the shepherd in the background at the closing scene. . . . . all the times I've seen the movie, I thought that was intentional!!!!
  • This is by far the best passion movie I've ever seen. I cry off and on through the entire movie. The music is so powerful. The love between Jesus and Judas is so real. I saw this in the theater 7 times, and there were priests and nuns alike, all crying like me. I own the movie, the albums, and the cds. May God bless you all.🙏❤️🎶 Jan
  • For those of you who haven't seen this in a movie theater - it's stunning. I could feel the camera movements - like during Simon Zealotes, and the camera swoops around Jesus, I felt like I was being swept into that frenzy. (Also, the edit from the end of Pilate and Christ to the huge closeup of Herod was too beautiful that big). I urge you, if the opportunity ever comes, see it in a theater.
  • One of the best adaptations of a musical to film and easily the best adaptation of an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical to film.

OMG!! I was lucky enough to see my idol Ted Neely 8 rows from the stage, with Darius Rucker as Judas in London Ontario Canada. At the intermission I grabbed about 47 thousand napkins because I knew what was coming. My father in law worked at the theatre and said he never got sick or hurt at work. The night of the play he almost cut his finger off!! I never got to meet Ted, he is fine but I was devastated. I have been a fantatical fan my whole life and seeing Jesus live was almost too much ❤🥰🇨🇦 I cried through this whole documentary as well. It was fantastic!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

I always LOVED how the film begins and ends with most of the actors getting off the bus, and then back on it, and that big cross strapped to the top. Right at the beginning of the film, there it is. Brilliant originality!
  • I wish I'd heard some of the cast members tell what it was like to work with Carl Anderson.
  • Ted Neeley is my favorite actor to portray Jesus he was perfect for the part just the look in his eyes his voice and just everything couldn't have been any better

This piece marked my adolescence in such a powerful, beautiful way! It is one of my very favorite musicals, and years later, I directed it with my high school students who were amazing!

I was 6 when the film came out and my mom bought the album. I never saw the film until it was on cable, but as a six year old I learned every single song and Gethsemane even then had me in awe. I did get to see the play in the late eighties and It was like coming home.
  • I watch it every year starting with the first screening at the theater….Will keep up the tradition…Never change it!!! The best rock opera ever. I know the words to every song

I'm 63 and an atheist and I've seen this movie 50 times and love it more every time I watch it.....great retrospective.......HE IS DANGEROUS!!!!!!!!
  • This movie changed the trajectory of my spiritual journey. My best friend and I would come from Mass (attempting to find our way at the time through Catholicism) and we listened to it faithfully every Sunday. The movie gave me just enough nuggets of information to explore Jesus from a Jewish perspective ( I had been raised as an evangelical Christian). My spiritual journey took off from there and long story short, I feel I'm finally home. I can still recite ( or sing) the whole rock opera by heart. The exposure to this bigger than all of project occurred when I was 17 and I'm now 66. Made a pilgrimage to Israel when I was in my early 50s and our tour guide pointed out the Cross in the movie that was still there. Thank you for this beautiful journey looking back and sharing your thoughts and experiences at this point in time. I'm so happy to see you all again. Thank you and Shalom!
