This video makes an error by omission. This was an oversight, and I won't let something like this happen again, but mistakes in scripting and editing occur at times. I take full responsibility for this error. The final part of Wallfacer Frederick Tyler's Plan would have been to detonate bombs to destroy the Trisolaran fleet and ETO, this final part was missing from my script and from the video and somehow I missed this in the editing process. I apologize for this mistake. For more info, watch this update video: • The Wallfacers (Bonus) | Three Body P...

Triosolaris: "you revealed yourself to us. Now we know your location and we want to destroy you with our superior technology. Do you have any problem with that?" Luo Ji: *Uno reverse

In a sea of mediocrity your videos and discussions are top notch. As a 74 year young sci-fi fanatic I appreciate all you do, Quinn.

Okay after having watched the video I just got to point out something. Wall facer Frederick Tyler was in fact a triple agent. The part of his plan that I didn't hear talked about in this video was the fact that his mosquitoes swarm was able to be remote controlled by him and the nuclear payload that each ship had could be remotely detonated by Frederick as well. The last part of his plan was going to be once the ETO Pilots had delivered Europas water to the fleet, Frederick was going to trigger the bombs inside the ships and destroy both the ETO Traitors and the Trisolaran fleet. This is all in the books.

Being a wallfacer is the most difficult task someone would ever receive. Imagine carrying alone, only in your mind, a plan to defeat aliens and save humanity, not ever writing or speaking to anyone how your plain is possibly going to work.
-
Important to note that Luo Ji being woken up late was because he was deathly ill and could only be woken up when medical technology had advanced enough to cure him
-
I dont think Tyler was ACTUALLY disillusioned with humanity, he just wanted to make it seem like he was so that he could potentially get into the ETO.
-
luo ji just deciding to do build himself a house and family was hilarious to me. loved that shit hahaha
-
Technically, Wallfacer Bill Hines' plan succeeded in the end, unlike Luo Ji's, which we all know didn't turn out well. The Mind Seal was responsible for the actions of some of the crew of Blue Space, which, together with Gravity, preserved humanity until the final end of the Universe, according to the fourth unofficial book in the series. The seal was always there and Bills plan of hiding it in the gereral public eventually worked.
-
The Dark Forest is by far the best book in the series and one of the best SiFi books of all time. Lou Ji will always be one of my favourite characters in all of fiction.
-
Hines was actually right. It was a defeatist spaceship captain and his crews' descendants that went on to establish intergalactic human civilization. Humanity's fleet easily lost to the Trisolarans and were later flattened by a contemporary of Singer's civilization.

This is such a powerful series. I love that it gets lost in the technicals at times but then transforms itself into true cosmic horror within minutes. Just incredible.

More Three Body Problem videos? Yes please.

This is one the few book series that I was legitimately addicted to. The only book to ever had me read it nearly 8 hours a day, and that is on top of working 7 to 8 hours 5 days a week.
-
I just seen the Netflix version and was honestly surprised, ended up watching all 8 episodes. It was surprisingly on point for the beginning and I though they’d stay away from that part.
-
You are the reason why I read this trilogy. I cannot thank you enough. The three body problem trilogy was an incredible thought provoking read from beginning to end. I also have never read something so terrifying. It kind of changed my outlook on the universe, I am always hopeful the universe is not a dark forest but I am no longer naive to neglect it as a possibility.
-
I got chills the first time I listened to the three body problem (on your recommendation of course) and the concept of wallfacers was explained. A responsibility unlike any that could've ever existed before
-
I love the video, but I kinda wish you had talked about Frederick Tyler's plan in the Chinese versions of these novels. In those, his plan involved using the Ball Lightning phenomenon on a space fleet to energize them to a quantum level, making the fleet impossible for the Trisolarians to defeat (or something along those lines, correct me if I'm wrong). Frederick's plan was changed in the English translations because the novel Ball Lightning hadn't been released for western audiences yet and Liu didn't want to spoil Ball Lightning or involve concepts from his other novels that the West hadn't been able to read yet. Pretty clever.

Quinn, I discovered your channel 2 years ago via an YT recommendation while watching a video about Dune. Your unique way of telling the story without ruining it for me made me pick up the Earth's Past trilogy. It blew my mind and made me stay sometimes until 3AM on a workday to read 'just one more page'. Since then I hooked up 2 of my friends to read it as well.

Since I love Space Operas and Millenia and more years-spanning plots the series by Cixin Liu hit the right spot for me from the beginning. The ideas and concepts are interesting and compelling and the characters are relateable. I am currently reading the series for a second time and I am loving it. Yours and Jean Michael Godier/Event Horizon are the only Sci-Fi channels I ALWAYS watch when new videos are available. Thank you for your great work! :D
