Grace and Josh visit 'After Impressionism', an exhibition at London's National Gallery to learn and see how modern painting developed in European cities other than Paris, principally Berlin, Vienna, Barcelona and Brussels. Acknowledging the achievements of Cezanne, Van Gogh and Gauguin in taking modernism beyond the Impressionists, the show demonstrates the contributions of many significant modernist painters some of whom have been neglected or infrequently exhibited.

This was terrific. When one can’t afford to fly to London to see it, this is as close as I’ll get. Thank you.
  • How funny I never noticed that before, but that Rousseau really does look like a proto Hockney. On the subject of powerful patrons, I imagine one could probably fill an entire gallery with portraits of Leo Castelli.
  • Please add subtitles in French, Spanish, German and English. Wonderful pieces of art.

  • Thank you for showing detail and discussing brushstrokes,I love the NG, and couldn't drag myself away from Turner and Constable with my last visit, but this period is calling me, I appreciate the selections, do you have any Emily Carr, she would fit right in

I suspect that we are not seeing the colors in these paintings as they really are. They appear washed out…especially the Derain.

The analysis of these works would be totally different had Grace and Josh lacked the background of these works.

I really enjoyed this visit and so brilliant that you did show each painting you discussed very close on, and then details, very beautifull and interesting. 🎵🩵🎶
