  • As a American watching this I have applied some of the UK fishing techniques to my arsenal for catfish and I have to say I have upped my catches by a good amount. Thanks for all these new tips.

It is really tempting in the winter to warm the bivvy up with your stove (oh, I'll just give it 10 minutes!) but your advice is so important and you make the point really well.....buy a decent bag, folks...and a hot water bottle too!
  • I wear seal skin socks, no need for shoes at night! Total game changer!!!

Put lugguge under your bedchair use the groundsheet at same time stops damp rising Purchase a dpm.ex army 7x5 tarp ...this can save your session in so many ways ,ie barrow cover during the night, protects your brolly ,bivvy in event of a seam leak ,so many different uses, another is a 58 patteren poncho ,again ,barrow cover, bivvy saver, use it to slip on during a down pour at night Always three ,induvidual fire lighting appliances, ferro rod,2x lighters. Always two head torches one on,one spare, absolutely avoid rechargeable head torches... Crocs or similar next to yer bedchair When you have set up ,start packing up in your mindset in case the weather or similar ruins a session Check you leave no food around ,or water bottles for a rat to urinate on..(i put my Trangia away in rucksack .. Wear a friend maker around your neck ,youll have to guess what i mean by that one Kernow bys Vyken 😊

Perfect timing, i love night fishing, I'm taking my Mrs for her first time carp fishing next weekend.
  • @Keithy-Keith
I wear headtorch around my neck, easy to pull up one handed onto your head when you get a run. Spare set of clothes in the motor. Use a groundsheet, stops rising damp and reduces condensation. Great tips from you Joe!
  • @pcfekarlos
Great vid Joe. Im planning my first 24 hour session soon so this was great. Still probably loads of other things i need to consider.
  • @sgtg4600
So what Curley is telling us is, when it comes to head torches he prefers a clip on as opposed to a strap on! 😮
  • @Baron-Ortega
Great tips bro! I found it's important to set my bivvy up the same way every time. That way you almost build a muscle memory as to where everything is. You're totally right about the old creature comforts. Good food and drink is definitely the one. Fishing is a time for treats. You may as well enjoy it!
  • Quality watch as always joe useful tips. I've lost count how many times I've got outve the wrong side having rolled in my bag onto the next video 👊👊👊
  • Great info Joe..even got the hot water bottles myself, which only took me 38 years to, work that one out, how to keep warm ..best decision I ever made...👍👍..best of luck with your new vlogs.subbed
  • @Mikeyboofboof
A good video with some useful tips. Couldn’t agree more with coming up with a location for everything and sticking to it-it just works.
  • An additional blow up sleeping mat, tucked between my bedchair and sleeping bag has been a game changer. Cheap and effective
  • Good video mate. Lot of good pointers for people who haven't night fished before. Fair play for telling us about the gas stove stuff. I genuinely find that a nice 5 season bedchair really does the trick for me. My dog sometimes comes fishing with me too and in the winters he is like an oven under the bedchair cover haha
  • Get a cheap motion sensor light and put it under your bed chair facing out so as soon as you put your feet on the ground it lights up everything. Alot better than a light connected to your bite alarms cause nothing worse than your light turning on for a line bite. Also i always have a pot of water ready to boil next to me so as soon as i wake up i can have a tea cause there's nothing better than tea with a sunrise
  • Adding to no.5 is always take a mobile phone with power bank for emergencies whilst also watching footing on the bank. A friend of mine grandad lost his life falling into freezing lake whilst fishing with his teenage grandson fast asleep in the bivvy
  • Nice one....I'm a complete novice dropping phone in the pond 😂
