Now much of the SNP establishment is gathering around the idea of bringing back the veteran John Swinney, while some still pin their hopes on the young but socially conservative Kate Forbes who might have pulled off a win last time had she not famously caused uproar in the SNP after telling Channel 4 News she was against gay marriage. Both have merely said they're considering a run.

Good riddance, now resign his hate crime law
-
Now he can campaign for Palestine full-time.
-
He should've been fired, and jailed under his own hate speech laws.
-
That speech was beyond cringe - good riddance
-
Scots deserve much much better
-
Humza has no legacy because he didnt stand for anything. The Greens wagged the tail of the SNP dog. Worst alliance ever.
-
Humza? Good riddance to bad rubbish. How he even got in the Party baffles me!
-
He didn’t quit he was forced to quit.
-

Humza Yousaf was willing to gamble by making extreme decisions in order to achieve popularity or change society. With that kind of fickle disregard for people, morals or political issues we can only celebrate the end of a leadership that clearly didn’t care or want to understand the country it was leading. This is a wake up call. The UK is at a turning point and this may be our last warning.

Respect to him to sticking to his principles rather than doing anything to remain in power. He was dealt a difficult hand and he's played it as well as he could without compromising on his beliefs.
-
Humza Yousaf has demonstrated himself intellectually to be a political pygmy and if these candidates really are the best that the SNP has to offer the people of Scotland, then in the words of Private Frazer from Dad’s Army, ‘We’re all doomed’!
-
Love to Scotland from England! Hopefully this is a huge step forward for you lot!
-
Now London needs to rid itself of Khan and Rishi
-
That’s a win for the Scottish people! 🎉

WAYHAY!!! He's out. Shame he jumped before he was pushed. I bet he thinks it was very noble of him to step down, where in actual fact he didn't want to suffer the embarrassmentof being booted. Goodbye Useless.
