Landing Gear Camera | flight landing wheel | 747 landing gear retraction | Plane landing

Published 2017-08-12
Hi all fans. New weekend, new video, a spectacular gear cam footage! Today I share some aerial footage where the main subject are the landing gear! Yes friend, a special landing gear camera footage. Particularly the filming of the take-off and landing of the Boeing 747, C5 Galaxy and a Bombardier Dash 8... really exciting.

Landing gear is the undercarriage of an aircraft or spacecraft and may be used for either takeoff or landing. For aircraft it is generally both. For aircraft, the landing gear supports the craft when it is not flying, allowing it to take off, land, and taxi without damage. Wheels are typically used but skids, skis, floats or a combination of these and other elements can be deployed depending both on the surface and on whether the craft only operates vertically (VTOL) or is able to taxi along the surface. Faster aircraft usually have retractable undercarriages, which fold away during flight to reduce air resistance or drag.

About the plans:

The Boeing 747 is an American wide-body commercial jet airliner and cargo aircraft, often referred to by its original nickname, Jumbo Jet. Its distinctive "hump" upper deck along the forward part of the aircraft makes it among the world's most recognizable aircraft, and it was the first wide-body produced.

The Lockheed C-5 Galaxy is a large military transport aircraft originally designed and built by Lockheed, and now maintained and upgraded by its successor, Lockheed Martin. It provides the United States Air Force (USAF) with a heavy intercontinental-range strategic airlift capability, one that can carry outsize and oversize loads, including all air-certifiable cargo.

The Bombardier Dash 8 or Q-Series, previously known as the de Havilland Canada Dash 8 or DHC-8, is a series of twin-engine, medium-range, turboprop airliners. Introduced by de Havilland Canada (DHC) in 1984, they are now produced by Bombardier Aerospace.

  • Hat's of to the engineers, who made travel this easy by studying so hard Also big thanks to the scientists for their inexplicable research in the field of physics, chemistry and biology

Love it, all the power being absorbed by those wheels, just incredible.
  • @jaypenna7044
I bloody love planes. From their wing tips to their wheels!
  • @TakeDeadAim
The first 747 really waited to extend. He was only 30 sec from touchdown before dropping the undercarriage. Some pilots will do this if they think they may be going around due to traffic and some will do it to save fuel...usually only on cargo runs though.

The 747 is an amazing flying machine. I hope it never gets retired!

Don’t you just love the C-5 as the wheels come down 😜. It’s like woah, weird.
  • I've often wondered why a mechanism isn't incorporated in the wheels/axles to somehow spin the wheels up to speed when landing. It would certainly extend tire life, and perhaps lessen the possibility of blow-outs. I know there's a good reason. The weight and complexity of these components might be the reason.

The first one looks like it was taken straight out of an 80's movie, haha!

Excellent! Who would have guessed that watching planes land, from the perspective of the landing gear, could be so interesting. Or maybe I'm just a massive aviation nerd.
  • 747...most interesting landing gear rotation synchronization to watch.
  • @Nyck461
And I tell more yet, I am fascinated for the engineering behind of the landing gears and other mechanical devices used to get the plane on and out the air.
  • How I love these machines, I feel emotional, thrilled, wet eyes! I was a Flight Attendant for 10 years, still in love forever! Amazing!!

Amazing footages with unique Camera positions. Big like
