On Saturday 27th April I was in the UK for my very first visit to the National Garden Railway Show at Stoneleigh Park in The Midlands. This video is broadly split into 3 parts: Running live steam engines/an impression of the t raders present/ Running live steam engines.
It was a fantastic day and this video only shows you a small selection of what was there.Sometimes you have to put the camera down and just get involved with the people there.
I apologize for the video quality, apparently my video camera did not like the poor lighting conditions :(

  • I went to this show from Canada a few years ago. I love all the little steam engines and enjoy talking to their builders and drivers. I always mean to get back one day.
  • The layouts and trains look great. Thanks to the people who do all that work to represent our hobby.

The hall looked very dark and gloomy but I still would’ve loved to get there. Some superb scenic modelling there, but how much of that would be practical out in a the real outdoor environment. Very good indoors but these layouts have now evolved into indoor modelling.

Great video Geoff and a real good impression of this wonderfull show. I don`t have a problem with the video being dark because I presume it was dark in this hall. Thanks for sharing, Bram
  • Great video Geoff. It really was an excellent show. I arrived there just after it opened and left just before it closed ! The layouts were fabulous and inspirational. My favourite trade stand was Roundhouse. They have fantastic products. Ive ordered a Bertie ! I'm currently kit building a Billy with much help from your George build videos. Thank you for those :-)

Thnk you for the kind words for our (Huddersfield railway modellers) Portmadoc layout, especially my modelling of the workshop.
