Since March 7th, 1st ranked defense over TWolves by 3 points. Luka - Kyrie - DJJ - PJ - Gafford starting lineup has had the best defensive rating of anyone since the all star break. This is not the same team and not the same identity that the media continues to ignore.

This Mavericks team clicks. Of course the two superstars are going to do what they do. But Exum has been great in the guard rotation. The big man rotation of D-live and Gafford has been the inside presence Luka needed. And PJ has been fantastic on defense. With shooters like THJ and now with Josh Green coming back, I’m thinking the Mavs are a lot scarier than people think.

Consistency is the key. The last 20 games the Mavs defended consistently and among the top if not the top defensive team, mostly healthy, better and more consistent in depth. Their ceiling is high because of Luka and Kyrie but their floor now is among the elites because of their defence. This is a different Mavs compared to the last time they met in the playoffs. Maxi Kleber, a bench player, was their best defender that year. And now they also have PJ Washington, DJones, Gafford, hopefully Lively to anchor the defense. With Exum and Green pressing against the point of attack, the Mavs are far off from how they were the last time, when their next better defenders were Dorian Finney Smith, and Porzingis who averaged 5 rebounds for a big guy in that series. Now they have a proven Kyrie in place of a young Brunson as well.

This is going to be a good series
