On November 16, 1996, Washington running back Corey Dillon made history against San Jose State. In just one quarter, Dillon ran for 222 yards on 16 carries (3 TD) and caught one pass for 83 yards and another TD. Dillon set two NCAA records that still stand today: Most rushing yards in a quarter (222) and most all-purpose yards in a quarter (305). Dillon also set then-school records that day for most rushing yards in a season, most all-purpose yards in a season, and most touchdowns in a season.

This video was awesome! You should do more of these! I love learning more about college football history!
  • My uncle played linebacker for SJS in this game. He still complains about injuries he got trying to tackle Dillon.

Dillon, Bob Sapp, Olin Kreuz, Jerome Pathon, Brock Huard, Benji Olson, Tony Parrish... what a stacked team!

Dad and I were there. We sat in the east end zone in full rain gear. Couldn’t see much of what was happening, just Corey running out of the gloom and into our end zone again, and again, and again …
  • Man, I miss how awesome a Pro-I formation looks with TEs and a fullback lead blocking. Even the 5 yard runs look majestic and rugged, especially with those old school, big shoulder pads and calf socks. Just classic football!

That is, in fact, THE Bob Sapp at guard for Washington. MMA Legend and former IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

I remember watching Corey Dillon in HS when he was at Franklin... He was unstoppable...

I’m so glad Corey Dillion won a Super Bowl with the Patriots! He is the most underrrated running back of all time! He made my childhood/teenage memories so much fun growing up!

Its so crazy seeing how the jerseys and pads have changed over the years.

I've still, to this day, never seen a tailback with Cory Dillon's size, move as fast as Cory could. He had one of the single greatest seasons in college football history in his one and only season at the University of Washington. The man was an absolute monster.

Wow. Unbelievable performance but I have to include the absolute excellent job by the O-line. I grew up in the northwest and loved watching the conference teams play, but was in the Army and missed a lot of games during that time. What a way to start my day watching this.

Wow... Lots of names that bring back great memories!!!
  • @GOGOPants
Had the privilege of playing against this guy in JUCO... he was really like that!
  • @unnes
Dillon was a monster in his prime -- the only thing keeping those Bengals teams interesting
  • I watched Dillon play at Garden City JUCO. Every time he touched the ball, the crowd stood on their feet because you knew something great was going to happen.
  • I was at this game! I was 14, sat up HIGH in the north end nose bleed seats, and FROZE MY ASS OFF. We left early, lol. Hell yeah, great video.

Oh man, I was at that game. Miserable conditions, but watching him go for 300 in one quarter? Incredible. I felt bad for San Jose State. He left after that quarter, and both backup running backs went for over 100 yards each, if I remember correctly.

Thank you! I've been looking for this footage for at least a decade. Such a great Husky memory! Such a dominant 1 year for Corey Dillon who was the backup to Rashaan Shehee to start the season. lol

Funny how we eventually realized them big ass hip pads were useless 😂
