Skar EVL 12 Long term Review (incredible subwoofer)

Before I sold this setup due to some unfortunate reasons I took it out of its enclosure to check on it. Pretty sad writing this as I take audio as a passion and this single subwoofer was everything to me. It was such a badass subwoofer. People can have sundown x12s, zv5s, or even some crazy fi team subwoofer, but when you open the box and take this fresh evl out it's something else.

The coil was nearly fresh, no oxidation bubbles or glue coming off, not a single scratch on the surround, spider, or tinsel lead. Lastly, the magnet had no chunks flying out and the high strength frame was good as new. It slammed and slammed for 2 years no issues and even on roughly 1700w rms it would take it no issues at all.

These come so underrated from skar with a 3 inch high temp black coated voice coil sitting on a black anodized former that's "rated for 1250w rms" but, that size coil and other features can safely run it above 2000w RMS easily. It's that good of a woofer so I encourage you to pick an EVL up. I'll always miss that EVL.

    I have two 12in dual 2 ohm skar evl on a taramps HD 3000.1 they are two of the best subwoofers I've ever owned hands down and you are right people got to stop sleeping on them

    just ordered a single 12’ evl preload box and a sk1500.1 was running a kicker comp R 12. only 500rms and it hit great can’t wait to see what this thing can do 🤟

    Just ordered the 12 inch EVL bass package to throw in my Tahoe hoping it’s worth it since I’ve never heard them in person.

    Does Skar paint their voice coils black? Or is that a sign of overheating/clipping?

    My homebody gave me a Skar Audio Evl-15d2 in a Skar box & it Blew within 35 minutes, maybe the SIA-3500 V2 wasn't to nice. Still got the blown sub, but gave away the box, I put back my 4 10's Sundown E-Series back in my Big Rig & I'm back to bumping like King Kong.
