An AR3 Argument but with Actual AR3

Since original MMod release in 2018, we've got an interesting feature/ability - disattach Emplacement Gun (AR3) and carry it with yourself wherever you want, which is really badass to me. Mikhail (Heavy) would be proud :D

I like how this basically completely changes this entire scene. Before it was a goofy moment of some dude caught in a lie. Now he sounds like the most capable yet horrifying man on the planet.

If i'm not wrong the citizens on the ep2 had some unused voice lines saying something along the lines of.. "I once saw a dude killing a hunter with his bare hands"

I still think the best thing about this is that the Hunters weren't even used in City 17. They were used to patrol/police the outskirts (forest) so him saying he was killing them left and right inside the city is hilariously wrong.

Hunters are smart and cunning synths. They could be as intelligent as humans. So the idea that someone would run up to a hunter and punch it, I just have to wonder, what would the hunter think? How do you even react to such balls?

I personally believe the man, the AR1 is the weapon the ordinals in Half Life Alyx use, it is the first variation of the combine AR platform. Later in Half Life 2 they adopt the AR2 the second variation for higher ranking ground troops like squad and team leaders. So when the combine needed an emplacement weapon to protect high value areas like Nova Prospekt and other places from Antlions, they took the technology of the Suppressor's weapon adapted it to the AR platform and created the AR3.

I like to think that, as a Radio Operator, he got constant reports where people would exagerate their exploits and he'd never question them about it. Eventually the soldiers realize he'll take anything they say at face value, and start exaggerating even more until this Operator is completely out of touch with reality.

I like to imagine the AR1 was just the OICW and was used by the combine to begin with for earth forces since it was made on our side on our planet with factories already set up to produce them. Once the combine had made a functional replacement that didn't rely on conventional ammunition and could be used off world they switched the standard issue AR1 to the AR2 for all soldiers.
