  • At one point, shootings in Venezuela dropped because the cost of ammo was so high it was no longer economical to shoot people to rob them. They couldn't recoup the cost.

Skullduggery is such a rare word that deserves more use.

  • Russians doing 40K's Imperial Guard human wave tactics without a hint of irony.

Regarding the status of Russia's reserve vehicles, if anyone is interested in a more in depth overview of rate of depletion for various vehicle types, the channel Perun recently did an hour long breakdown of just that, entitled "Russian Equipment Losses & Reserves (2024) - the Changing Russian Force in Ukraine" If you want even more detail, he cites a number of the freelance analysts who actually do the satellite photo interpretation to produce this intel, and has a variety of sources documented in the description of said video. It's a bit dry and intensely detailed - Perun is very much a logistics-focused analyst - but at the level of his video, it's actually kinda interesting. Personally I'm not the right kind of person to go digging beyond that level of summary, though.

  • @hertzeid
Saw a Russian soldier on X describing how the air on the Kharkiv front being so full of drones that they sometimes collide with each other trying to get to the Russians, and "each of us being hunted by about seven drones". Combine this with the heaps of videos on X showing FPV drones deleting soldiers in transit long before they reach the front, and the Russian insane casualties make sense.

I am from Russia myself and have a vantage point (purely my own observations). Massive losses estimates are not unreasonable. The demobilization order never came thorough, men are being chased by military commissars, the pay package for signing a contract with the military has been rising exponentially with the average salary of an infantry men far exceeding a salary of a financial director or an experienced IT professional etc. if you triangulate, you can definitely tell the cadence of losses outpaced the recruitment
  • @phuszy1
Can we get warographics as a podcast? Already a fan of casual criminalist and decoding the unknown in that format❤
  • @StayPrimal
Huge fan Simon. I don't know how you can make content on wars for so long without losing your mind tho. Well done.
  • Ohh, Simon, my sweet summer child...Venezuela has been exporting delincuents since AT LEAST 10 years ago...
  • @Kaltagstar96
Moduro flat out saying "I don't plan to fight fair" is bizarrely refreshing for a dictator; like, of course he's a shit person and an authoritarian dictator, but he's oddly honest about it. Most dictators try to hide that kind of shit.
