  • I have a little electric bike, and the town I live in is full of people with actual motorcycles, and every time they pass me they wave at me, and it makes me feel happy, because it shows that they acknowledge every single bike
  • I received my first biker wave the other day. It might be the most gratifying thing in the entire universe
  • @Hexavolt
I've been a full time rider for 5 years now. I always just assumed that the 'biker wave' was acknowledgement of each other putting their life on the line in the pursuit of a more exhilarating ride.
  • @leviyow5173
As a truck driver and bike rider the wave you get as a rider gives the same feeling as pumping your arm to a trucker. It makes our day so don't stop
  • @Gemineye47
Why is that motorcyclist standing up? Because my ass hurts.
  • @Rettequetette
We speed away from the traffic light not only because of physics, but mainly to get away from the cars behind us asap. I even learned to do this in my lessons.
  • @dutchboy9273
We also accelerate of off stop lights to get out of the "death zone" of the intersection. Something I have been questioned on; "Why do you stop at an angle at stop lights?" Simple, If rear-ended I want to squirt into the gap between the cars in front of me, not be crushed between the car in front of me and the idiot behind me..
  • @zedalba
When I'm engine braking, I always slightly apply my rear brake to help control the deceleration and signal that I'm slowing down. It also makes me feel much more experienced than I am.

PLEASE, everyone, DON'T stop after the Basic MC Course. Get continuing training as long as you ride! Your life is worth it!
  • I vividly remember the day after I got my Harley, I passed an old dude with a belly length white beard on an old Shovelhead and he gave me the side wave. To this day it still makes me feel like the coolest dude on earth
  • @flush_entity
as a car dude and a rider, since i started riding ive been letting bikers have so much more space. These are great things to explain, thank you~
  • @adonian
I’m a car guy. I left lane drive and I always move over to allow lane splitters room for their safety. I almost always get the two down salute. Car guys gotta respect the bike riders. (I’m a nurse, I’ve seen the “ouch”).
  • @NWTMasterWolf
Two fingers down is actually originally a signal to let each other know all is well behind them as well as to say hello. E.G. tapping the top of your helmet being a sign of warning (heads up) to an on coming rider that their is a danger they are headed for. Remembering and practicing this was a priority when I was growing up on bikes.
  • @bikergirllife
In the UK, we can't do a hand wave as we're passing on the wrong side, so we 'head nod' to each other. One of the many reasons I love riding in the US or Europe so much- doing a two finger salute is so much cooler!
  • being an old school rider for 35 years a lot of these I knew. the standing up method. this also helps when you are moving Ina slow lane with traffic with lots of cars because bikers can do something that cagers cannot, get higher than the roof to see what ahead is happening.
  • @FRMN8R_T4R
Leaving a stop sign or stoplight also gets you out of the intersection more quickly. Intersections are one of the most dangerous areas on the road for motorcyclists.
  • @3613jeremy
As a truck driver dealing with cars doing to us drivers what bikes do to them is very therapeutic I suggest all big rig drivers to get a bike it definitely helps
  • Along with greetings, peaceful journey. The wind also will not grab your hand or destabilize you as arm is down and back thus wind flows past, and freshness of open spaces flows around you!
