Elden Ring is set in a dark fantasy world called the "Lands Between." The world was created by the Elden Ring, a powerful object that has been shattered, leading to chaos and turmoil. Players assume the role of the "Tarnished," a character who has been exiled and embarks on a quest to restore the Elden Ring and bring order to the world.

The game features a diverse cast of characters, including gods, giants, dragons, and other mysterious beings, each with their own motives and agendas.

Elden Ring is known for its intentionally cryptic and enigmatic storytelling style, where much of the lore is left open to interpretation and speculation. Players need to piece together clues, engage in speculative discussions with the community, and make their own interpretations to fully understand the lore of Elden Ring and its intricacies.

Elden Ring is also an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game's progression—similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls—and are explorable using the character's mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option.

Soulsborne or soulsbornekiroring (a bit of a mouthful) is the title given to games fromsoftwares made over the last 15 years, soulslike refers to games that take inspiration from fromsoftwares game design!

The elden ring outer gods lore is so amazing I'm a massive cosmic horror fan so it just ticks all the boxes I have lmao! I also love the elden ring numen lore like damn its cool! also also the elden ring land of reeds Is so cool too!

You've probably all heard of dark souls or bloodborne over the years and while there probably wont ever be a dark souls 4 or a Bloodborne 2 (As much as I want a bloodborne 2 i lose hope every day)the trilogy legacy and bloodborne will live on as a classic for a very long time!

plus the fromsoftware and elden ring community findings are amazing! like damn some of the stuff!

  • Edit: I’ve seen a lot of comments commenting on the elden stars, perhaps I didn’t explain it well enough in the video, yes it does say the greater will sent it, but the two fingers are also said to be from the greater will/communing with it, Imo it’s very likely the greater will did not send down the elden beast :) Hey everyone hope you’re all having a great day! I’m on holiday so responses to comments might be a bit dire, as the internet is TERRIBLE! The discord for the channel: discord.gg/xv8t5bFSzd

Nice, but I think the tubes in Metyr's arena are the roots of the Finger Ruins. They look thicker than the golden trees and the trees are on sides of the arena.
  • @Thanaduos
Metyr being below the Elden Beast is brilliant, that’s a wild idea. While she’s not the final boss of the expansion, it makes me think of Warcraft’s Wrath of the Lich King, in which Yogg Saron isnt the final boss, but he’s the puppet master.
  • @kaj413
As you were speaking, I noticed it. The ceiling of Metyr's arena is the surface of a body of water. The shimmering, the diffusion of light, the lack of gravity effects on the tubes making them feel suspended, yeah, this is under water.

I have seen somewhere that when the maps are aligned and resized, a lot of places connects ALONG with having the Erdtree AND Metyr's boss room overlapping each other
  • 4:34 Ohh I've seen the One Finger plenty enough times. Fromsoft has been giving me the finger in pretty much all fights in the DLC.
  • The elden beast theory makes so much sense 👏. All things converge. Although i think her playing both sides, while valid, doesnt really connect with anything. My theory is that she birthed the three fingers by mistake or birthed it and later regreted it. A cursed child. Familiar?
  • It just occurred to me that Metyr could be the gloam eyed queen we had assumed was human or related to Marika. She was chosen (an Empyrean) to crash land first. Marika was the vessel meant to unite Metyr and the Elden Beast, only she separated them instead by sealing all that encompassed darkness (including especially death) below the veil. The Gloam eye is Metyr's portal - pure Void. Its like the 'eye' in Gideon's scepter, not a physical eye but a metaphysical one. It is dark implosion/attraction to the gold explosion/expulsion. Marika sealed the visible Gloam from herself but it passed to her children in various forms.
  • I saw a lot of people saying Metyr dies at the end of the battle and she did not teleport out of there using the black hole microcosm, yet we see Astel create the same black hole and teleport from one part of the fight area to the other end in the blink of an eye, showing it is possible. Also on a random note, Metyr hates bowing to Marika and her Golden order, her anger towards this might be sheer jealousy from the fact that initially Metyr was the Greater Will's vessel, later Marika was chosen and Metyr was cast aside and abandoned.

Based on the description, she is the mother of all finger creepers and all "two" fingers. I don't think she has anything to do with the three fingers. The three fingers came from the Frenzied Flame.
  • @TitanAnon
I feel like Metyr was done dirty. She almost feels like she could have been the final boss if they gave her more love
  • @AkioJunichiro
I was not ready for someone thinking the trees in the elden beast arena are reals + the giants fingers in the finger boss arena are in fact roots of thoose trees... Maybe it's a bit stretch but I think giant fingers in the arena are in fact giant fingers in the surface and the trees in the elden beast arena are not real just a metaphore.
  • @tinchoman2
I don't think she is playing all sides. She's just the mother of fingers, and like Marika's children they all have their own agendas. At least the three fingers. The tube like structures seems to me more related to the finger ruins. Metyr's lore confirms that the GW has been absent from the creation of the Golden order from the beginning and she was pretty much just winging it. Theres so many things falling from the stars in ER, that just because she uses gravity I don't think is evidence enough to connect her as the origin of the gravity lords. To me these are forces of the cosmos that different beings harnessed in different ways
  • @ZeroFallout1
I think Metyr's great crime was birthing the 3 fingers. This is why the Greater Will ghosted her
  • @dsijohnson
Nice theory but a large hole in it is that it's confirmed through items/lore that the tunnels in metyrs arena are how metyr planted new 2 fingers throughout the lands between and the reason of them being unused is due to metyr being injured by the fingerslayer blade, no longer able to give birth to any two fingers but only to finger creepers
  • @FadeRadio1
The video is well put together, but I have a few problems with your theories here. First of all, I think it's too much of a stretch to say that the onyx lords, and the Astels are birthed from Metyr. Their gravity magic being similar seems to simply signify their cosmic origins, not a show that they're all literally born of the same being. Take for example the Fallingstar beasts. More often than not, we find the fallingstar beasts in their own little craters that shows where they themselves LITERALLY fell onto the lands between. Their gravity magic alone is enough to connect them to your other examples, but if the common theory that Astels are simply a further stage in the fallingstar beast lifecycle is to be believed, then they too are immediately eliminated from the possibility of being Metyr's children. Furthermore, it'd simply be odd to have this very OVERTLY and CLEARLY finger-based being who births finger-based beings to just have a side hobby of birthing just totally unrelated and non-finger-based beings on the regular. On to the next point: I appreciate your thinking, but I think the use of 'Rapture' here is not as deep as you're thinking. Yes there are PLENTY of religious motifs in this game, but the word rapture also can simply mean "A feeling of extreme bliss or ecstatic joy", which is very much what the emote seems to convey. Doesn't mean there aren't tons of christian styled motifs in the game, but the reading into this part specifically feels more like overthinking a genuinely simple detail. ---- Lastly, I actually personally believe that we now have a much clearer image of that the difference between the two fingers and the three fingers is. We see that Metyr is able to birth beings of single, double, and triple fingers, but also able to birth absolute abomination hands with like 20 or 30 fingers on them seemingly. During one of her attacks, she also seems to throw 'worms' on you from her stomach. I believe these aren't just worms, but little baby fingers that are undeveloped and have no body or other fingers connected to them. We also see an example of beings and an area heavily DOMINATED by the frenzied flame, and even a seeming 'lord' of the frenzied flame, yet there is no three fingers to be found in this area. I believe with all this evidence, that the two fingers was simply the main 'receiver' species created by Metyr, and that the three fingers we see in the base game is effectively just a faulty and 'defective' version that was cast out and shunned, and thus ended up coincidentally becoming a vessel to the frenzied flame. What I mean to say is: I don't think that any being she births that happens to have 3 fingers would just automatically be connected to the frenzied flame, I think it was just that ONE pair. If we have beings with WILDLY varying numbers of fingers all from 1 to several dozen, then why would the ones that happen to land on the number 3 be special automatically? I think the frenzied flame, as one of the outer gods, simply prays on outcasts and beings it deems as useful hosts.
  • While the idea of Metyr creating the Three Fingers on purpose is interesting, a counterpoint would be that Ranni's Two Fingers actually have a thumb as well, proving that two fingers and a thumb may not be solely the purview of the Frenzied Flame. The sets of three fingers shown in Metyr's arena seem to have the same thickness and bends that both the Two Fingers proper and a smaller version of Ranni's Fingers would have. The Three Fingers tied to the Frenzied Flame, however, are incredibly thin and more straight/angular, and the 'thumb' is nearly as long as the other two, which we don't see anywhere else. To me, this makes it seem that these Three Fingers are a malformed and malnourished version of a 'proper' set of two-fingers-and-a-thumb. Metyr's proper hands, on her main limbs, do have four fingers and not five, as would be expected of an intelligent being, so I would say this makes her not just unnatural, but unintelligent ('below' the five of enlightenment). Rather than her creating the Three Fingers out of boredom, I see it as more likely that the Three Fingers simply was the only set to see how truly vapid their mother was, how she is simply listlessly existing and birthing in a void without the Greater Will to guide her, and the realization of that is what made the Three Fingers what they are - that the Will has abandoned us, that all the births its creation of the universe led to - including their own - is a mistake, and that the solution is to burn all and melt all until convergence is achieved.
  • @DeepRest420
So you're saying Metyr is Miyazaki??? That's quite a revelation lol
  • @sion7651
seems more like the three fingers are a prison for the frenzied flame. the Three fingers can not become a lord. perfect place to bury it. their existence sure as hell is a mystery!
  • @ret2156
I noticed a body hanging out of metyrs stomach and it had me wondering if that was someone like yuri who became the finger mother and it all grew out of the body.
