"So did you want to be a Metroid speedrunner or a Link to the Past speedrunner?" "Yes."
  • @GhoullyXX
I love the irony of the Ice Rod being submerged in lava.

So I did the math. At 2:01:23 Andy decides not to check the big chest. At 2:04:11, he discovered the boots were necessary. It then took until 3:01:35 to find the boots. So if it would have taken 30 seconds to get the boots the first time, he would have saved 57 minutes and 54 seconds to get a new finish time of 2 hours, 18 minutes, and 28 seconds.

(Samus picks up Book of Mudora) "...The hell am I supposed to do with this?"
  • @metamayto
These two have a really good dynamic between them.

"good thing you seved those frames" after a 30 minute+ search is probs the most scarcastic clapback ive heard from this gdqx XD full savage, loved the run guys it was great
  • @FortunaDraken
I love how the tracker clicked the boots icon a bunch of times as if to say WE HAVE THEM happily. A very good troll seed and a great run even despite that.

This run is also known as "mom says it's my turn on the emulator" any%
  • @Platanov
Now I'm imagining a buddy cop movie starring Link and Samus.
  • @samtoshner8002
This run is so great to watch the second time, listening to their commentary, knowing how screwed they are without the boots
  • @swordsmancs
46:18 “cuz you don’t wanna miss a location that have the thing you get stuck behind” Two hours later: skips boots
  • @pasu2k
Having to 'waste' an hour looking for the boots was actually nice in showing off all the chest locations in ALTTP, so could be useful if any watcher decides to do the challenge themselves one day :)

I'm impressed with Andy's extensive knowledge of SM and SM randos.

2:01:06 - Andy talks about how messing up movement in Super Metroid can make you look like the "biggest idiot". In 40 seconds time, everyone will be giving him a round of applause. No-one knows that, in those 40 seconds, he's made a decision which will turn out to have cost them almost an hour by the end of the run. Man, I feel sorry for him; that was actually the right call when going for an out-and-out PB/WR attempt (of course you pick the strategy that saves a few frames and hope RNG goes your way, that's standard), but will wind up being one of the go-to examples of when taking a safer strategy at the cost of a few frames makes more sense in an exhibition setting like this. Still, this is a great run to watch, the boots saga made for a lot of tense entertainment, and I'm going to be following both of them on Twitch!

I love the chemistry between the two runners. Makes it so much more fun to watch.
  • @NotAFakeName1
I get 2 hours in and see Andy entering Ganons tower and there's an hour and ten minutes left on the run and I think "man something is about to go horribly wrong"
  • @hirogawa
Great concept. Great games. Great runners. Great speedrun. This exactly what an INCREDIBLE randomizer run should be.
  • @PerfectDarkly
This entire run could've been a whole hour faster, but instead it turned into karmic schadenfreude of the highest caliber. He passed up those stupid boots literally minutes before running into the one thing he needed them for.
  • @DreadZep
Amazing how an old married couple plays games like this.
