The Fujifilm X-T5 has proven incredibly popular, and now we have a smaller, less expensive version with the same excellent 40MP sensor: the Fujifilm X-T50! What corners did Fujifilm have to cut to make this all possible? Chris Niccolls went to the Eau Claire Market mall days before it was demolished to find out.

The X100 series situation really convinced Fuji to put on their milking gloves
-
The price jumped from 900 to 1400. That's insane. It's more expensive that X-S20, Sony a6700 and Canon R7. I know that new sensor is more expensive and addition of IBIS is also expensive, but still. They should have just add IBIS and price it at 1100 or 1200

The price point of the xt-50 is the best advertisement KEH could ever ask for.
-
The price jump is kinda staggering.

The XT-xx 2 digit used to be an affordable camera for camera enthusiasts. Now Fuji ruins it by jacking up the price excessively. It's too expensive for a camera enthusiasts. Crazy pricing! $1400?? Really?

Considering the price, I am glad I went with the X-S20 last year
-
Thank you for including the actual horizontal and vertical pixel count when talking about the screen and EVF resolution. I find that easier to understand.
-
They should've released the X-E5 instead to further differentiate it from the X-T5, this is way too similar and the price isn't much more affordable.
-
Thank you for the review, and thank you for featuring the Eau Claire Market. Many good memories there.

Chris’s hair is the ultimate endorsement for the Canada School of Barbering.

Im happy with my XT30II. Glad i bought when it first came out. It’s perfect as an everyday camera, The 18-55 kit lens has stabilisation if I need it.

“It’s not weather sealed in any way… but you do get dual command dials” …Well unless those command dials let me control the weather, I’m one rainy afternoon away from being out $1400
-
Nice job fuji! I like how they managed to improve the looks of the camera quite a bit. Cool to use as a second camera for daily use. Living in rainy Netherlands, I would have preferred weathersealing though.
-
As always, great video, guys! Kind of a bummer the EVF is low res, and no water sealing, (and that price point!) but it's an appealing camera. I'l be interested in your review of the new zoom.

The only reason to not buy an X-T5 over the X-T50 would mostly be due to lack of stock. Its quite overpriced considering that is using the old batteries. Thankfully I bought the X-T5 last year.

Thanks - informative & well presented guys :)

That price without being weather resistant isn't going to cut it for me. I already have an X-S20 for small stabilized camera that's not weather resistant, and an X-T4 for all weather shooting. My X-T4 upgrade path will either go to X-T5 or X-H2 at this point. If they'd offer a weather resistant variant of either the X-S20 or X-T50 I'd be willing to pay that price since I could trade both of my current camera bodies in since Dual card isn't a requirement for me but I definitely need one Weather Resistant body in my kit for rainy days and dust storms. The new 16-50mm WR kit lens on the other hand might be replacing my trusty 18-55mm next month.

Looking forward to the lens review.

I will pay $200 extra and buy a used x-t5

Thanks for the first look!
