Agreed, gutters. I came here from reading your comments on greenbuildingadvisor.com Sounds like you've had quite the ordeal with your home heating as well as the drainage. Humidity in basements will always be higher than the home due to temperature difference.

May 1 2018 4th year, the landscaping labor I did (i'm 71) saved the house from high humidity by CORRECTING THE SLOPE SO THAT IT CARRIES RAIN AWAY FROM THE HOUSE. The CRACK IN THE BASEMENT WALL WAS CAUSED BY INCORRECTLY INSTALLING THE FURNACE EXHAUST SO THAT IT DRIPS WATER ON THE GROUND OUTSIDE INSTEAD OF EXITING IT TO THE BASEMENT DRAIN. The absence of a street storm sewer I countered with my rock lined drain which has held up for 3 winters now. The house should have a connection between the house and garage, the garage should have a pitched second story, and I am currently reorienting and enlarging the deck to create a safe entrance to the living room which the house did not actually have, and allow a gutter downspout at the edge of the deck that would stop water build up in the canted sidewalk. My landscaping also includes creating a terraced walkway 3 foot below the edge of the lawn as to stop the erosion. THE BIGGEST HIDDEN DANGER IS THE FURNACE EXHAUSTING INTO A BOWL AREA THAT ALLOWS THE CO2 TO BUILD UP WHEN THE WIND IS FROM THE SOUTH OR STILL. The house is not safe for children and I sleep all winter in the small den with the sliding glass door cracked. The furnace should exhaust up the chimney except the chimney would have had to have been repaired. I estimate my work at $10,000; my brother who does his own home repair estimates replacing the aged cast iron plumping pipes and updating the hodgepodge electric at $30,000. My recommendation is to build an apartment over the garage, and live in it while redoing what needs to be done in the house. This is a very small house so upgrades will have little value, hence the apartment as the yard area is sufficient. Particular attention will have to be paid to removing any mining trash that is still in evidence. And a new sewer line would be necessary for the apartment. There really is no win-win here but the view is of green and it is private.

You definitely need to get gutters. That will make a huge difference in your basement. You could even collect it in a rain barrel and use it in your garden. What State is this? Looks very green.

Soley because They wanted an outcome that allowed then to murder my family, steal from my parents, cheat my children and grandchildren. They wanted me to blame my victim. They wanted me to be so terrified by the deep dark cistern in which they placed me that I would have no choice. They wanted me to be where I could not feel, see, hear. To fear the darkness and depth so greatly that I would blame my victim. Guess why they failed? I had a psychotic breakdown which they also camouflaged. Evil exists and I have felt it.
