"And we see the gorgeous Macrophage is back. Big fan of the Macrophage." My man.
  • 1146 is “良い白 (i i shi ro)” meaning “good white”, 4989 is “四苦八苦 (shi ku ha kku)” meaning “struggle” and 5963 is “ご苦労さん (go ku ro san)” meaning “good work”. According to the fan book, other numbers are mostly random.

13:57 "Megakaryocyte brings out a gold medal?.. 100% accurate" Yeah I dont know why I failed my biology test
  • Wooooaaahhhhh, this man has a waifu now. Macrophage I see, good taste.
  • Backwards Cap is a character in the spinoff manga “Cells at Work: Platelets”; technically, this is a crossover XD
  • When you watch Dr. Hope’s reaction before watching the episode itself 😅

The fish bacteria might be Salmon-ella?

I wonder if the 'cute germ' is a reference to molecular mimicry mechanisms of certain parasites. As for the role of immune cells in sites of injury - besides generally being activated and chemotactically drawn there by factors associated with tissue injury, immune cells also have a role in inducing tissue regeneration and repair.

Had to sacrifice watching anime to watch something even better

Low-key Japanese thing at 10:14. Up until the Backwards-Cap platelet runs off to do her job, 1146 referred to her affectionally as with the "-chan" suffix. The "-chan" suffix is sort of similar to the "y" suffix in "Bobby" and "Teddy" in that it is there mostly to show familiarity and affection. As Backwards-Cap runs off however, he swaps the "-chan" with a "-san" indicating "respect". Most commonly, the "-san" suffix is translated to Mr/Mrs/Ms and can be used to refer to both equals and superiors. The change is meant to show that he thinks of her as his equal thereby (hopefully) giving her the confidence she needs.
  • I believe the backwards cap is a reference to most anime's 'special' characters. Mostly main characters who have a distinguishable trait to 'stick out' and draw notice to them as the main character, or as an important character. Like with our red blood cell and the 'airhead' 'cowlick' hair strand.
  • Cells at Work (normal): Happy, comedic, and doki-doki Cells ar Work Black: serious, dark, suspense, and no time to joke around around

When you're treating a patient, does this series ever pop into your mind?

another WBC , the one who is looking for U-1146 here, is 4989 4989 is written as 四苦八苦 in Japanese and means "extremely painful" (it stemmed from a Buddhism term, meaning "all the torture on the world"). He was the one who nearly got sucked out in S1E2 when there's a wound. I'd guess his number means he's a hard working, perhaps also hard-hit guy.
  • @mr.stuffdoer8483
Please come back to this series, the joy doctors get seeing things done so cleverly is really fun to watch
  • @rxscydanie
Not gonna lie, u-4989 needs to get more screentime. He's so dorky i love him 😭
