I found Home World by accident in the early 2000's. It was on sale cheap and I remember the pkg. saying "1999 Game of the Year". I didn't know what I had found. I wasn't a "Gamer", I'm still not truthfully, but I do game! Yeah, I remember spending 6 hours getting through one level. I remember starting the game after work on a Friday and watching the sun come up on Saturday, still playing. I got wrapped up in these games and it was awesome! I still love these games and just hope that 3 does justice to the franchise.
  • The Homeworld series will forever and allways have a huge place in my heart <3 :)

I would love an actual Honeworld movie. Imagine this music and atmosphere on a big screen. Phenomenal!
  • If you’ll notice, there are six transports that carry the Crew of the mothership. In the original game, there were six cryo- trays, carrying colonists.

The music was so awesome, it sets the mood so perfectly. Also the fact that the game was always setting up enemy strength relative to yours, so whether you built a lot of ships or not, you always had the perfect difficulty level. This was especially cool when you modified the savegame (essentially just a JSON file) and gave yourself several Dreadnoughts, 100 Keepers (!) and Sajuuk - the enemy would just throw hundreds of ships at you in this case. Battles for the ages, still motivating even after playing through the missions several times.
  • Oh man, I've missed HW's goosebumps... It is just that good. I honestly hope HW3 lives up to the expectations and have amazing OST and story and gives me the goosebumps I need. The planet killers arrival is still such a goosebumps-inducing part.

It was a great game back in the day. Some fan community made maps and an encyclopedia with all the worlds and clans. Long after also played Sands of Kharak, good stuff in the lore.

1:55:30 is the most terrifying moment in this whole series. seeing the planet killers descend on the planet you worked so hard to get to in the first game along with defending it against makaan all for these ships to arrive that can easily destroy it all in mere moments is horrifying to me

When I found out that Homeworld 3 was in development, I was simply thrilled. When news came out that it might be released in 2024, I closed my eyes and remembered 'Adagio for Strings'. Some time later, a specific date of March 8, 2024, was announced, and then I glanced at the calendar and counted down the days until the end of 2023 so that psychological barrier was crossed. I felt a thrill of excitement. By the end of February 2024, I had watched and read all available materials, and my pre-ordered copy looked at me every time I started up the system. The excitement grew day by day, until anger appeared. Then I began to fall asleep listening to the soundtrack from Homeworld 2, because I remembered it always calmed me down. In the meantime, slowly and meticulously, I am once again in the middle of this beautiful story, enjoying the Remaster. As I send this message into the void of the universe, the meeting with Imogen will take place in exactly 18 days, 8 hours, 4 minutes, 57 seconds. Should I propose to her right away, or should I invite her to dinner first?

Great to see this again. One of the most atmospheric games of its era 👍
  • When destroying enemy capital ships, immediately move your smaller units away before they explode. They do cause explosive damage to nearby vessels upon destruction.
  • @Mobius_118
I would've loved to have gotten the perspective of the Vaygr fleet attacking Hiigara when Sajuuk and the rest of your Fleet jumps in. Fun Fact: It's possible to yoink Makaan's Dreadnaught and add it to your Fleet.
  • The best ever space 3d strategy. The quality of all aspects was top notch. Its a must have, treasure for any old time strategy gamers

"At 32:00, you discover that your people were once like the enemies you are now trying to combat. (A way for the Bentusi to say 'don't repeat the mistakes of the past, you weren't as good as you think you were...')". Read the story of the angel moon war to understand.

    1. Thanks for this, it was a blast watching the world of Homeworld play out. From the start where Rachel S'jet was sitting on that sand dune on Kharak all the way to Karan S'jet preverbally watching over the entire galaxy at the end of 2, was a real great Space Opera. 2. I now understand why a lot of people are not that much of a fan of the plot of HW2 lol. The overall plot of HW2 feels like its from a different franchise and there are a lot of plot elements missing from the game that make me believe the game was rushed, an example being the Bentusi. Like, what do you mean "the last of the Bentusi"? Are they all dead? Was Bentus the last Bentusi in the galaxy while the rest fled to another due to The Beast? So many questions left unanswered. 3. Thank you again for this!
  • @ogkspaz
3:12 I wish they would match the core sizes in the remaster too. That was such a cool transition in the original.

omg... i saw this movie about a year ago and never thought at that time i would ever see the game in a mobile version... Cataclysm was my introduction to the game 22 or so years ago, it took me a long time to even realize the game was called Homeworld: Cataclysm... the story was amazing and sent chills down my spine at certain points, amazing graphics and the 3d were truly a breath of fresh air after playing so many other games that just became repetitious after a time with the sprite 2d formats, i am still amazed and can't wait to see what lies in store for me in the mobile version... thank you all for a truly memorable and remarkable experience !!!!! i will hafta to dust off the old pc with Win98 so i can do it all over again...
