Professor David's facial expressions and loud voice are enough to ward off any attacker.

As a Texan, I have never had a desire to live or visit NY. But, if I ever did, I would come train with you. Even at age 61. Thank you for being real.
  • He is telling 100% truth. It was really funny people still think that thereā€™s magical powers in self-defense.
  • @twonganttable
And heā€™s EXACTLY right! That is why I get so mad when haters say that Bruce Lee was just an actor and he had no tournament fights Bruce Lee was a killer martial artist self-defense artist, and he would take you out in seconds. And weight class had NO significance.

Teach my brother...Teach! It's always been my honor to share this martial journey with you. Glad your still here for those who truly want to understand. Stay Strong, Respect!
  • I started in traditional martial arts since 1971 on a daily basis, and I'm 65, almost 66 now. I'm still learning. Much love and respect to Professor David and Shihan Kenny.

This is THE BEST street fighting self OFFENSE stuff that I have seen out here. This guy is spot on about people not putting the time in for traditional martial arts to work on the street. He really cares about people enough ti show them stuff they can learn quickly that really works, and not have to take 20 years to be able to do itā€¦..

Bless you Professor. No one can run backwards faster than an opponent runs forward. Thinking Offensively is thinking rationally.. save defense for Court!

Thank you Iā€™m 62 years old and I think I learned something from your video I like your way

As a Judo practitioner, I must say, your methods and teachings remind me of ā€œverbal Judoā€ which we use in self-defense situations. Avoiding conflict and learning to quickly take down if that doesnā€™t work.

I took one of your classes , over 20 years ago ( I was already in another system and didn't want to stop, I should have stopped , I learned more in that one class then I did in five years of kempo) and my niece and friend were your students. Amazing that you have the same energy as you did all those years ago. Stay safe, stay healthy.

3 seconds into this video, I was knocked out by your intensity. When I picked myself up out of the dust that had settled, I made myself a coffee, put a steak on my forehead and continued to pay attention. šŸ™

The reality is he knows what he's talking about. Forget all that pretty movie or competition stuff that will get you killed or maimed in a real situation. šŸ‘

This is awesome! Back in the 80ā€™s I trained in Kung fu. Our teacher was a street fighter also. I used the element of surprise 3 times on 3 separate occasions on the same guy. Each time he would approach me and he proclaimed he was going to ā€œkick my assā€œ then proceeded to take off his jacket. As he was taking off his jacket I popped him with a jab and a cross and game over! I always was prepared to hit first or run first if I was ever out numbered. I was also taught to wear a belt when ever possible and be prepared to use it to defend against weapon attacks. Iā€™m grateful to be able to train even now at 60. Your video just popped up in my feed and you earned another subscriber!

Long ago, when I was in my 20s, self-defense training options were very limited. Krav Maga was unheard of, for example. Pretty much everything was Karate or Judo. I did join a nearby Korean karate group for a while, though. I didn't last long because none of it was practical. I saw katas, hand conditioning and discovering my spiritual self as wastes of time. I wanted to learn PRACTICAL self-defense in real-world situations. After about six weeks I bagged it, when I refused to jog barefoot on a dirty sidewalk which had obstacles such as broken glass. Also, one of the veteran Korean kids got badly beaten by some a-hole at a gas station. If only there had been an instructor like Professor David back then, and a place like his in my neighborhood -- exactly what I wanted!

I just watched this video. It's the first of your videos I've ever seen. Thank you! Your strategies and explanations are bullshit free and make sense. I'm no fighter, nor do I want to be. I'm just an overweight disabled machinist. I had some scraps in my youth, but not in a long time. Thanks again. Very helpful.
  • You are on point. I am from the old school of fighting. And I did shotokan, Tichi, wing chin, and jujitsu. I started to combine different arts. I am also a street fighter first. And what you demonstrated. Is exactly what I use on the streets of NYC. I ended before it got serious. And walked away. I even used that same technique against taller guys with a ten inch kitchen knife and walked away. Your fighting style works. Because it makes sense and it the real deal. From just what I saw on video it looks like you teach in NYC. Much respect to you. You are a real teacher. Who teaches a real way to fight. God Bless You.
