Today at our masterclass in Texas we are working with a conure named Jasper who is 1.5 years old and incredibly fearful of hands and stepping up, and sometimes he BITES! This video shows how to read conure body language and how to be receptive to it to earn your bird's trust.

  • "We don't amputate our kids just for fun." Cracked me up. And so true.
  • Jasper made great progress so quickly! He is so adorable! He has kind eyes and a pureness about him. 🤍  And he has amazing humans.✨

This is so helpful, I have a conure who is very similar! And love how his owner reads his body language, hope I’m also as in tune as her. The questions she as well were very helpful
  • Seeing Jasper launch himself out of his cage and his owner standing there patiently waiting for him to land was like deja vu, it's the exact same thing my green cheek and I go through every time I try to take him from his cage. This video was very encouraging and I have a better idea now of how to work through this with him, thank you <3

Ooh this is perfect! I love seeing conure content, as I/my family has one. I sometimes find him a bit difficult to read and understand though, unlike this parront who did a wonderful job! Picked up on subtleties that I can scarcely even notice sometimes, haha. My boy is scared of hands, but he doesn't bite, he just backs away. And its mostly with me and other people he hasn't seen much of (since I've been away from home for years with only week-month long visits at most), he's really quite comfortable with my dad to the point where he's pretty much becoming a one person bird 😅 doesn't help that my dad doesn't listen to me at all and continues to feed him the wrong diet, pets him all over, that kinda thing, but I can't do anything about it 🥲 Anyway I'm hoping to build a better bond and take over more when I'm back home properly so videos like this are super inspiring and helpful 😊💕! Thank you Birdtricks and clients!

OMG DAVE! I've been saying this for years... THEY ARE BORN WITH WINGS... Do taking them away would cause ISSUES! Lol I didn't think of the "we don't amputate our kids" though! Lmao 🤣🤣🤣 Made me laugh out loud! I have a Conure that looks exactly like Jasper, and is a little bit younger than him. I've had my boy since March 2022.... Although I don't have the issues she's having, I've never seen or experienced another Conure, so I have NOTHING to compare his behavior too. I think my boy and I are ok.... But i know there are things we can work on! Anyways, love you guys! I ONLY use your advice and products and FFS for my bird! You and Jaime are the best! Much love 💕💕💕

I’m new to your site and am really impressed. I have an African Grey who is miserable to deal with. Always bites. Maybe I can learn how to have a more comfortable relationship with him.

I don’t have a bird but I found this fascinating. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩

This video is so amazing!! I love seeing the bird learn and the techniques to use! It’s so much better than just a verbal explanation of how to train them. Thank you for this!
  • @carolhartley4448
Yes, definitely i agree, he will bond, and your right in my opinion, "building trust" so he will bond, I think it's always on there time, you guys are so helpful, !!
  • This is great, I found out with my conure that he responds much better when I form the que with a question, this is the first time that I recall that in question form they at least my bird feels like he accomplishes better, he feels lkke it's it is his choice, really works, most people might not haave thought of this, Im so glad you showed this, thanx
  • What a huge improvement! I'm about to do a consult with a fearful bird on it's first day with new owner, so I'm brushing up ;)
  • Chickens or rather hens would be great training for people..they are so fast in their reactions to everything. If you make even an unfamiliar sound, or ever so slightly too quick movement, they will take a surprised quickstep to the side and barely flare their shoulders in the “I’m less dominant, I’m in defensive-going to be mated mode” just for a second when they realize it was just random and they return to normal in about half a second. Sometimes they look at you and you know exactly what they’re thinking..”I’m going to jump on your shoulder, jump in your lap, etc.” I was holding treats in a bowl when one of my Whiting True Blues was up on a high roost, I read her body, and just held up my arm, tapped my arm a couple times (when hens step up on roosts, they tap with their beaks a couple times testing the solidity and position first) while saying “go ahead honey, come on!” and she flew from the roost to my arm in midair..two years old, never done it before..they love their black soldier fly larvae treats!

I have two conures that live together and are bonded. And I- a lot of the times- work with them separately to make sure they both are responsive to my cues.
  • @joebean3615
That’s a pinnacle green cheek right the red on the tail just looks duller and the green looks more teal-y
  • @lenazeina6779
