This is one of Abba's more sad songs. Björn Ulvaeus admitted that the heartache of his breakup with Agnetha Fältskog inspired this song. In divorce no one really wins.

Her voice literally shakes on "you've come to shake my hand". What can you say.

Agnetha has one of the best voices of all time. This song is actually her favourite song and it’s about her divorce. It’s brutal and brilliant at the same time. The visitors is also a great song.

Abba had the ability to make you dance with tears in your eyes!

This song captures a breakup perfectly. And that voice...
  • Agnetha and Karen Carpenter are probably the greatest pop vocalists of the last 50 years.

Before autotune when artists actually could sing… beautiful voice ❤
  • This one and "Knowing me Knowing you" are possibly the biggest and most charachteristic break-up jewels of their discography with SOS as a potential runner up amongst others.

The best ABBA song - and best pop ballad ever (in my opinion). When The Super Trouper Album came out in 1980 - I wore it out. Agnetha Faltskog (blonde) and Frida Lyngstadt (red head) have Angelic Voices. This is a CLASSIC!
  • As a major prog and metal junkie, I have absolutely no shame in saying that I love ABBA dearly. My top 5 favorite female voices are: Karen Carpenter, Agnetha and Anni-Frid, Linda Ronstadt, and Christine McVie. It’s no surprise that my love for them came from being shown their music by my aunt, who was the one who really fostered in me a love for wide ranging music. My dad was into hard rock and metal, my mom’s mainly into country and 90’s-00’s alternative. My aunt listens to everything from Bread to Led Zeppelin. I’ve even got her listening to Tool now, but that’s a story for another day. ABBA takes my vote for the best music group not only for their ability to make catchy music (as the Beatles and Beach Boys, along with many others made catchy music before them), but for their ability to make music in *a language that was secondary to their native language*. I might be wrong, but I think they’re the first to do that, to the level of success they achieved.

ABBA will live forever. That's not something you say about even flash in the pans like Taylor Swift.

Imagine going through a fairly acrimonious public divorce, and your ex writes a song for you to sing about him. And you do it with style and grace. And it's maybe the best song you ever performed together.

There are no bad ABBA songs. I’m so enjoying watching you discover this art. ❤
  • @SamVargo
I played Donna in the Mamma Mia musical last year, and this was my favorite song to sing 100%. So beautiful ❤
  • This masterpiece made with heart by Agnetha. I always cry when hearing the last melody.đź’”

In my opinion "The name of the game" is the most fascinating Abba song but actually hard to say because i've heard them all hundreds of times so they all seem special
  • If your familiar with ABBA's story, then you can see that their music tells it with haunting words and melodies. When their marriages began falling apart, songs like "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and "The Winner Takes It All" were produced. A bitter sweet story.
