I can't believe this actually just happened

What the hell just happened?! It’s been an unbelievable NHL season. One for the history books, so it was only fitting that we’d get an unbelievable finale heading into the playoffs. Coming into tonights matchup against the Washington Capitals, the Philadelphia Flyers had just a 6% of making it. But they had a chance. As for the capitals, they just needed a win and they were in. Meanwhile though, after that incredible comeback last night at home, over in Montreal the Detroit Red Wings now just needed a win in any fashion so long as the Capitals lost to the Flyers. Needless to say, it was a wild finish! The Flyers scored first but had it called back after an early whistle blew it for them. Further, the Flyers had to get a regulation win. So should they be tied in the 3rd period, they may actually pull their goalie in regulation because an OT win did them no good. And yeah, of course that would indeed happen.

Even crazier though, in Montreal the Canadiens were up by a goal with just 7 seconds to go. Pulling their goalie, it led to the Red Wings eliminating the Flyers by pushing OT while almost simultaneously Tortorella was pulling his goalie not knowing they were already eliminated. Ironically, the wound up eliminating each other! I cover it all and more in todays NHL hockey video!

The craziest part of this video is the people leaving as the Red Wings tied the game

Charlie Lindgren and Ovechkin gotta split that team MVP award for sure. The former kept them alive all year long with some stellar goaltending and the latter rememebered he's the greatest goal scorer of his era in a crucial 2nd half of the season.

Today I learned that the Canucks made the playoffs with a -72 goal differential in 1991

The Flyers are so awful, they let down two fan bases this evening.
  • Thanks for the recap, fabulous job man! I wanted it so badly for Detroit. It seriously broke my heart to see them push so hard last night and even see Showtime himself bury for the SO win and only for a joyless reaction from the boys. 😭 What a season they had!
  • outside of Shane & Josh Doan, that smile is the most wholesome thing I've seen this year in hockey
  • As David Perron’s number one fan, this ending was absolutely heartbreaking

I can't wait to see just how upset everyone gets if the Caps go deep. You said it perfectly...it's doesn't matter how you got there!

NHL Fans: You are without doubt the worst playoff team I’ve ever heard of Caps: But you have heard of me
