Beaver lodge on Pelee Island

I came across this beaver lodge a little while ago in my canoe. That morning I met two Islanders there who were checking it out and said the beavers had arrived the year before. I had to wonder how a beaver would venture out to an island 15 miles away from the mainland,in the middle of Lake Erie, but it goes to show the extreme will of some species to expand their territory.
