Although Jamaica was hit by more of a glancing blow than a direct hit by Hurricane Beryl, much of the Caribbean island was left without power.

Despite escaping the very worst of the hurricane, the cost of repairing and rebuilding affected communities will be significant, but people on the island aren't hopeful about getting help from the government.

So glad that Jamaica didn’t get a direct hit! 🙏🏾🇯🇲
  • Please stop saying Jamaica didn't get a direct hit! Tourist towns and the capital aren't the only places that exist! My family is from Treasure Beach (that's in Southern St. Elizabeth) and many homes were left without roofs and people now homeless.

Are these the only communities affected in Jamaica. My impression from family is that most homes are standing up well with the storm. Jamaicans build their homes better since hurricane Gilbert . If the builder follow protocol the roof can be built to withstand a category 5 hurricane.

Jamaican accent is the greatest accent in the entire world! 😂
  • @MikeySlou
Dramatizing at its best. Standing at fishing shacks pretending like the island was battered. Nothing much happened on the island. Straight propaganda.
  • I hope builders will continue to follow building codes. They can save lives. Love to Jamaica and all the islands affected.
