10:03 this made me cry. “How do you love a monster” broke my heart. Yes, his son committed a horrible attack, but this man had decades of experiences with his son that were not horrific. It’s so sad that people we love can do horrible things. I feel awful for all those who were affected.

I watched the entire MKBHD video reviewing the product: He spoke to its impressive build, admired the vision behind it, and showcased well just what it can do. After which, he articulated why the product, in its current form, isn't ready for market. He wasn't unnecessarily cruel or vindictive. He just spoke as an expert in the field of tech.

Faraz Tahir is the security guard that was killed in the Bondi Junction stabbing. It was his first week on the job, and his first shift during the day. He managed to alert the security operations room before he died, and his actions saved lives.

As a industrial design student, the burden of "do no harm" should fall on the product, not the consumer and certainly not a critic, who serves the consumer. How about creating a product that actually is worth the cost of material and manufacturing and actually in beneficial to the consumer? Its sad that these days that's really hard to find in a product, but that is how it should be.

I want to give that father a hug. I cannot imagine a deeper despair than knowing the child you tried so hard to save is now dead, and he died being a monster that took innocent lives with him.

The father of the mass stabber seriously almost had me in tears in this pizzeria. Quite often after you hear these stories you’ll hear a family denouncing or distancing themselves from the perpetrator, but he stands there heartbroken over the death of his son and over the pain and death he caused. How a man can stand so much public multifaceted pain is beyond me. His grief and internal conflict really got to me.

The entirety of the Australian story brought me to tears. The mother protecting her baby, the baby loosing his mother, the father crying over his son. I had to leave my room to keep from picking up my infant and just crying.
  • My brother’s doctor refused to test him for STI because he didn’t show any outward signs. He wanted to be that person that got tested every 6 months but instead they shot him down and told him to only get tested when there was an active issue. Pisses me off to this day.

Letting people pay $700 for a bad device is harmful

Seeing the stabber's father just break down was heartbreaking
  • I am Australian and I feel I speak for many of us when I say that the Bondi tragedy, and the stabbings in the Fairfield Church could have been so much worse if we didn't have such stringent gun control here. More lives would have been lost if these men had access to firearms. The tragedies are awful in every way, but it could have been so much worse.
  • Phil please cover the church stabbings in depth! It's such a sad sitataution and us Assyrians are praying for Bishop Emmanuel's recovery. He prayed for the stabber right after he was attacked and the churchgoers held him until police got there, I think that honestly deserves a bamf of the day especially doing services in Gaza before all of this. He's a good human being.

It amazes me how angry people get every time a reviewer gives their actual opinion. Do we want them to be transparent and objective or be a shill for corporate interest?
  • As an American who’s grown so desensitized to mass killings like the one described here, it hit in me the gut to hear and see that reporter grappling with the severity of what she was reporting, obviously holding back tears. So often, the reports that we get, through absolutely no fault of the reporters, don’t sound or look like that because we’re just so used to it. Genuinely wishing a speedy recovery to those injured, and condolences to families who lost loved ones. The trauma for those who witnessed or there will likely never leave, but I hope they can receive the care they need in this time as well. It’s truly awful. 😔

The MI-5 case really highlights to me the difficulty of intelligence work as far as tangible deliverables. Groups like MI-5 are essentially tasked with predicting the future and no matter how good a group of analysts are at their job, they will never get 100% of everything that comes across those analysts' desks. Having worked with them, the British intelligence community is a very professional set of organizations that nip attempted terror attacks that you will never hear of in the bud every year, but unfortunately in the counterterrorism world, it only takes one.

Hearing that a 9 month old was one of the victims in Sydney absolutely broke me. It's bad enough that innocent people were killed but to imagine someone having the capacity to harm a defenseless infant is unfathomable for me.
  • @nobledrew23
If my heart wasn’t already shattered into a million pieces hearing that the mother who tried to save her baby died listening to the father of the killer apologize for his son’s action broke me 😢

That lifeguard is Reidy from Bondi Lifeguards! He’s such a true hero to the surface and has made some amazing rescues over the years, no surprise he jumped into action to rescue others whatsoever. Props to him, he’s utterly such a BAMF and a total sweetheart who I’ve had the pleasure of saying hi to before down visiting Bondi. It’s such an awful tragedy, Bondi is such a beautiful place filled with wonderful people and this did not deserve to happen.

That father is the exact reason why I could never wish fatal harm to someone. There are always others that do care about the individual, even if they are some of the lowest of the low. I mourn for that father's loss, and I hope others see why mental health should fall under health care.
  • @sammyp8068
The killer was severely mentally unwell and experiencing homelessness. Our country has failed him and many others. Our mental health system can’t cope with the demand of people who need help. The need for psychologists are skyrocketing but they make it incredibly difficult to become one. There are no beds in hospitals for mental health patients so people get thrown out. Waiting times are months to see someone and while we do have Medicare that pays for 10 sessions, it only pays for a portion of what a psych costs and often times, you’re still out of pocket. I’m not excusing what the killer did in Sydney, it is horrific. But I’m angry that our government would rather put more money into private schools, defence force and politicians pockets instead of funding things that holistically support mental health like public education, hospitals and affordable housing.
