The Supreme Court is set to decide to what extent former President Trump could be immune from prosecution for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election on Jan. 6, 2021, as his lawyers have claimed. Post Opinions columnists Charles Lane, Ruth Marcus and Jason Willick discuss the strategy and timing of these arguments and what we might expect the justices to decide in this showdown about the future boundaries of presidential authority.

  • Are we talking about Presidential Immunity? Is Biden as well as Trump immune or are we just interested in Donald Trump?

Correct Title: "Should Trump receive the same due process and rights as a normal citizen"

Is the Washington post propaganda? Well duh haha

Using the phrase “even for Donald Trump” borders on absurdity. It either shows lack of common courtesy, or exemplifies the dichotomy in our country.

The Law only applies when the Law is after you. That’s what fascism means
  • Personally I don't care whether it's a Republican or Democrat and there's evidence of them doing crimes and they need to be prosecuted for the crimes they committed

The question should be: Are the supreme Court above the law. And, why does the US justice system suck so much?
  • Is a misdemeanor the same thing as a felony? 'Democracy' may not have died but my brain cells might have, listening to Bragg's reasoning.
  • Also here is another question......Is Hillary Clinton above the law?

No but what's happening has nothing to do with the law at this point.

I wonder why WP does not raise the question why judicially created absolute judicial and prosecutorial immunities exist.
  • Is it odd that the court would comment on above the law! When they clearly think they are "Above the law"
  • @sjt4225
I assume they'll plaster over the "Equal Justice Under Law" inscription on the court once they make their horrible ruling.
