The Rotec R2800 is not a rotary engine as stated here. It is a radial engine.

The old guy with the Merlin engine is my favorite. Does he even know what fear is? I bet nobody can scare prank this man.
  • The bikes were wild&crazy. Love to ride one sometime. Most of these engines are gas guzzle monsters.

Best use of a stretched and raked motorcycle frame EVER!

The Merlin was the Bad Boy on this block. A couple of others might had more hp, not sure, but that great sound is unique. I am sure it comforted many a soldier, during WWII, and was a tried and true game changer of the air war.

Boy, that "Merlin" V12 certainly lights up, (and runs), as authority with a attitude problem. Min 1:20. What a monster.

Nice automobile list, engines in general I find more interesting. Such as the pulse jet. :)

2:20 The Junkers' opposed piston diesels used to start much easier, if the back-pressure in the exhaust was increased by a temporary constriction.

Those radial bikes are so sick. Me want one!
  • After seeing about ten mistakes, I turned off the sound, stopped reading the captions an just looked at the pretty pictures. I really enjoyed this video that way.

4:32 This is actually the twin inline 6 GM 6046 it was also used in the M4 Sherman
  • @wallbanger1968
The "Chrysler multibank" engine shown on here appears to actually be 2 Detroit Diesel engines mounted side by side.
  • @thatrickster1
Great. But you are not showing the multibank engine under the superimposed text.

I think the Ford 427 SOHC would look great on a 32 3-window coupe.
  • @AngliaNutz
The Ford Cammer was a beast but the one piece camshaft drive chain could leave the left bank running with as much as 8º camshaft timing retardation.

I love the huge 1005 CID, that would be AWESOME in a quad car... we would certainly own atleast 4 of them.... don't just REV, the gas, take it out for a spin... show me it runs...
