I would often get those kind of buses about the North East mainly United but sometimes Northern General ones too but United tended to go to more interesting places in Northumberland, western Co Durham and northern Yorkshire where i'd go camping.Northern and United had a good few painted in Tyne and Wear yellow too.I think that Hartlepool Corporation had them too but I don't think that I ever saw any Cleveland Transit ones.I don't think that I ever went on Tyne and Wear and Darlington Corporation to know if they had them. Not to forget Ribble on the joint with United Carlisle Newcastle route but being NBC Ribble must have had them.

Bit of an aside from the National, but seeing the GNE 78 "Lime" there, on which I very likely have ridden, wow, brings up some memories of moving to Annfield Plain from Colne in Lancashire in 2011, where the latter at the time had mostly Burgundy & Cream bus liveries on their Wright Renowns, to seeing this bright green citrusy-themed thing, it was a shocker (though, their bright orange 44 "Diamond" was just as jarring!), never thought I'd see one of those again!
  • Thank you for this video. This National is a credit to the NNRG. I remember these buses because I travelled to Amersham College each day in one.
  • Very obvious Volvo sounds coming from this. I’m guessing it must have taken quite a lot of modifications plus a lot of work to do the engine swap?
  • Of the few Nationals I’ve driven was a mk2 with a 0.680, far superior to the smoky clatterbox.
