Southern Steam Locomotive 4501 pulling the "Sentimental Journey" train out of Memphis TN in April of 1985 benefiting LeBonheur Children's Hospital. Operated each Spring from the mid 1970s to the mid 1980s.

1 - Park Ave. just East of Ridgeway
2 - Poplar Ave. justWest of Collierville TN
3 - Highway 57 overpass just East of Collierville TN in Piperton

i wish i saw this train 1985 too! I love Southern Railway #4501 as well.

The first two locations are VERY familiar. Used to love chasing trains along Poplar through Germantown and Collierville. Sadly, I never saw Southern steam here, as this last visit happened 9 years before I was born, and 11 years before I ever lived in Memphis! With the steam program back in action, maybe Norfolk Southern will send 630 or 4501 out there. I'd like to see the videos, if nothing else.

What whistle is 4501 using during it's 1985 excursions? I've also noticed that 4501 has "whistle cracks". Like a voice crack but with a whistle.
