I have now had Lyme disease twice and ticks are everywhere! It is next to impossible to stop them when you work outside as much as I do every day but we have to keep fighting them....here are some ways to slow them down!

I do the permethrin on my boots and pants, deep woods off on the rest of my clothes. Long sleeves in the woods. The deer ticks are actually transported by mice to so many other species. Great to hear you are back at it.
  • Ticks suck! I’m glad you got some meds and are feeling better! Take care Chris👍🏻👍🏻GNI

I enjoyed speaking with you at the firewood frenzy. I was wearing one of your shirts and you came up to me and gave me a new logo. Thanks.

Good morning Chris, you're right about the ticks! I had Lyme disease along with Cellulitis in 2015, inever knew a body could hurt so much! There were days I thought I was going to die and days I wish I would've! I use Permethrin on my clothes when I'm in the woods and especially turkey hunting and have had outstanding luck with keeping ticks off me! Lyme is NOTHING to sneeze at and can be debilitating and possibly deadly! Another bad disease is West Nile virus. My best friend's brother in MT contracted it and nearly died, he's in a permanent care center and will be the rest of his life! He cant even breathe on his own! Stay safe, hope you and Kenny get better! GNI
  • Hey Chris: Glad you’re on the mend. I’ve never had Lyme disease, but I had Tick Borne Relapsing Fever. Before I moved West, I took precautions for ticks. Here Montana, I have only picked up one in four years. Ronald Reagan said it best: The most frightening words you will ever hear is- I’m from the Government and I’m here to help.

Thanks, Chris! +1 for going to the doc immediately -- my sweetheart got a tick on our property and her doctor prescribed doxycycline right away to get ahead of the infection in case she had picked up Lyme. Luckily she hadn't. Also, we're big believers in permethrin on our outdoor clothes and picaridin (which also works on deer flies, thankfully -- and the Ranger Ready brand comes in non-stinky scents). Glad you're feeling better!
  • My dad got bit by a tick and developed weird allergies to certain foods afterwards. Apparently one of the tick diseases causes permanent food allergies, one variant causes allergies to onions, olives, and turkey. Another variant causes an allergy to red meat. He said he’d rather have had Lyme Disease

D-100 Doxycycline, twice used for 30 day periods wiped it out both times. They were about 7 years apart, waiting for Drs. endless tests was not an option IMHO, ordered D-100 on line and was relieved of aches in 2-3 days, but went the whole 30 days. Have a nice flock of chickens now and haven't encountered any ticks around the property, free rangers on patrol. NE PA. :)

"Good Health" is so taken for granted. If you have it , you miss it "bad" when it's gone. I try to pray everyday for Good Health probably the best blessing the good Lord can give ! Glad your Good Health has been restored 😊 Cheers.

Glad you’re feeling better Chris. There is a difference between a creek and a crick. You have a nice creek at the old wood yard. A crick has to have an old used tire in it. 😀

Glad you're feeling better! Somehow I've made it to 42 and not got it yet and lived my life outdoors. A neighbor at the cabin had lymes 7 times
  • Very good video Chris! My rating of this vid... 10+ outta everything professor. Sent it to my daughter. I'm sure shes done all of this, but at times she thinks shes the only one dealing with it. Thanks again!
  • I don't like spraying poison on myself. I check myself over when I come in and shower. I will take my chance with nature and go to the doctor if I need to. Tics can be a real problem. We have few around the house in about a 3 acre area because we free range our chickens. they are death on tics. Our dog used to get 7-8 tics a week, she has had 1, that we know of in the last 7 years after we got chickens. This was a really good video. Don't be afraid of life because none of us are going to live forever. I won't go to Canada when the black flies and mosquitoes are thick.

Chris, just got blood test to check for Lyme and regular yearly check up. Like you I’m in woods hiking, cutting trees, walking dog, making maple syrup. Nice “Tic Talk”!

I lost a (best) friend to Lyme disease because the medical people had no idea. He contracted it in south Texas (70 miles west of Austin). So don’t think it only happens in the northern U.S. Glad you’re doing better.

I’ve had both Lyme and Rocky Mountain. Luckily always caught them immediately and never suffered any effects from it. But what I’ve done for the last 2 years is had my yard sprayed every 3 weeks. I have not seen a tick or had one on me since then (knock on wood lol). Money well spent. You can do it yourself if you want. I think this is the best solution. I can’t remember to put on bug spray every time I go outside. I’m in NC so with our mild winters the ticks are terrible. You should consider spraying your wood yard. We have 15 acres so we can’t spray the whole property but we spray about a 3 acre section, our yard, around the shop and the woodyard.
