Hannah Barnes, associate editor at the New Statesman, is joined by political editor Andrew Marr to discuss the developments in US politics.

Kamala Harris was elected as San Francisco district attorney, State of california attorney general, and U.S. senator from california.
-
“She’s not been elected to anything.” Wow - check your facts, mates. District attorney, state attorney general, senator, and vice president.
-
Not true… she was elected to several California offices…Attorney General of California , California Senator and San Francisco District Attorney. Be factual please….
-
Never elected? How did she get in the Senate?
-
She was elected to the Senate folks.
-
This video shows no research. This is legit embarrassing. Stick to uk politics.
-
Finally a young, vigorous candidate, with normal sized hands and real hair.
-
The difference now is that we all want her to succeed. The world is behind you Kamala! You got this!
-
Never elected? 2010 California attorney general beating Steve Coolen then 2014 against someone I can’t remember and then she went on to became the states senator for like 5 years
-
People like Andrew Marr have lost sight of the fact that politics matters in the real world and is not just a sporting event of who is up and who is down.
-
Andrew, Kamala was elected California DA

Haven’t you been watching Harris over the last few days? Her speeches have been brilliant

It's not so much whether Biden is in decline which led to his resignation, there was nothing to hide, everyone could make their own mind up. What mattered is voter perception about his ability to function as President had bitten deeply into his prospects of winning in November. With each passing hour the only way forward to return a Democrat to The White House seemed for him to withdraw from the race. His health became less of a factor than the likely result.

I'm shocked how badly Marr got the facts wrong on this.

She did get elected to the position of California Attorney General, twice, and elected to the position of Senator for California. Her campaign was initially talked about a lot but internal staffing issues plagued the campaign, along with her naturally quite shy (by American standards) personality acting as an impediment to her public speaking skills in the context of speeches (as in, not prosecuting a case against someone/something). Four years on, she has had much more practice at public speaking and she has much more maturity. She is also able to take advantage of the existing Biden-Harris campaign staff.

Had to stop watching less than two minutes in because this "expert" guest doesn't seem to know how elections work. As a CA resident, who has voted for her multiple times, I can assure you that she has been and will be elected.
-
It doesn’t smell bad. Just politics, Biden had wanted to continue, and if Harris had pushed too soon, she would have blown it.
-
Not only would having two Californians on the ticket be ‘very weird’, Andrew, it would also be unconstitutional …
-
Lot of obvious errors in this interview, doesn't really know what he's talking about, think he may be past it, time to give it up?
-
Good chat - however maybe they let the Republicans slag off Joe at the major exposure RNC and then change to Kamala - negating their rhetoric. So Joe's timing was planned to perfection!
