I loved the cat cafe reaction! It was fantastic! Also, not sure if you caught these things yet but here's some Easter eggs for you: All the ghosts are wearing things from Taylor's past; the guitar she's playing was a gift at the beginning of her career; there's a pic of her grandma Marjorie in her bathroom; the label on the wine is Taylor's- 13, a snake, a butterfly & 3 cats; & there are 13 E's in the Will sentence "ThErE is no sEcrEt EncodEd mEssagE that mEans somEthing ElsE, LovE Taylor"! Also, between this & the Bejeweled videos Easter Eggs I'm pretty sure Speak Now is the next rerecord!

Taylor has actually explained that this song is about how she struggles with not feeling like a person (among other things). She is always in the spotlight and is always getting criticized, no matter what she does. I can imagine this made her public persona kind of swallow up her actual person.

Your theory makes a lot of sense particularly because she is the process of recording all her old albums and thus is revisiting old emotions and themes. I cannot even imagine how hard it can be. You remember the good but you specially remember the bad. Although this is new album it has throwbacks to old relationships of her. As she said in the promotion: those are sleepless nights, things of the past that kept her awake, so is really plausible that she’s having a very very Cathartic moment in her life as an artist.

I'd just like to say just how lovely Taylor's voice sounds nowadays. Not too many people mock her voice anymore. She's never been a great technical singer, but her voice has become so very seductive, it just sucks you in! This is the stand out song on the new album. After the amazing Red TV, I was secretly hoping for a return to knock out acoustic-rock-pop instrumentation with this new album, because I think she sounds awesome over dirty guitars. But with that said, the new album is very interesting, and it is growing on me.

I loved how campy and fun the video is, and I agree with you that the juxtaposition of the fun-sounding song on the surface with the darker lyrics and video is really intriguing. Also, I appreciate her so much for the vulnerability. As someone who has lived with an eating disorder pretty much my whole adult life (and I'm a good deal older than Taylor), the bathroom scene hit hard. I know some people have criticized it for being kind of cliche, but the thing is, for some of us, it basically is like that--whatever number you see on the scale doesn't matter, it's still too high. And for someone like her who is so beautiful to be open about having that same struggle, and to do so in front of hundreds of millions of people, is really brave and I appreciate it so much. (Also...damn, does she look good with that long wavy hair and the boots. JFC)

I said the same the first time I heard the album..I also believe this is a closure album and that Taylor will draw a line under all that has happened in the past and will look forward to her new future and will come up with some new amazing material for the future ( hopefully some rock :):):) )

I like the musicality on the verses a ton. The melody, vocal fry, it rocks. Chorus line of looking in the sun but never in the mirror is dope too. Favorite part is the second verse where she says shot through the heart but never killed, the best and music sound like a EKG heart monitor and then it flatlines
