Did you learn anything new after watching this video?
  • I don’t know why but I chuckled when you easily pulled Link’s waistband out from his character model 😂
  • @TylerTownsend
This was an excellent theory!!! I never noticed the individual crests on all the skyloftians before! Such a cool little detail to connect them all!
  • @jaxpool155
as an artist, i loved getting to see someone go in-depth with an overlooked part of skyloft's charactet designs! i'm also amused at how much the "tail swirl" on link's crest reminds me of the gamecube logo
  • @BobzBlue
This would be evidence that the first hero was not the hero of the sky going to the past.
  • @attackboss6
I think you should do a part two, expand more on the temple of time and link connections throughout the games
  • I was blown away by this theory. I can't imagine we've been missing so many details under our noses this whole time! I may have an explanation for the siblings. From what I've read up about European crests, only the eldest son inherited the family crest--other sons had to modify the crest to create their own versions. If Skyloftians follow a similar practice, the brother probably has the original family crest and the sister has her modified version. I also noticed Gulley's crest is slightly different than his mother's (at the very base), which may suggest he's not a first born. However... Gulley's crest is only slightly different from his mother's, unlike the siblings. Still confusing 😅 I have to wonder if people can 'earn' crests. Given that most family crests are bird designs, the few that aren't really stand out, like the fortune-teller's. It may be that occupational crests may evolve into family crests over time, or that there's a complex system behind designing crests, given your theory that the two crests on the outside of the Bazaar belong to groups instead of individuals or families. If so... I have to wonder if Link's crest is a family crest or one bestowed on him because he was chosen by the extremely rare Crimson Loftwing. Given how similar Zelda's family crest is to Hylia's, I would expect the original champion's family to have a similar crest to the one on the shield. However, I'm still partial to the idea that Link IS related. Especially because I like the idea that part of the reason Hylia raised Skyloft to begin with was to protect her champion's family. But whether Link is the champion's hereditary or chosen successor (or both), I love the way that the Crimson Loftwing ties the two heroes together through time

I shall always find it amusing that lore wise, the bird inspired the shield, but in truth, the shield was the inspiration for the bird. While bird-like designs have appeared as far back as A Link to the Past, the classic design of the Hylian Shield first appeared in Ocarina of Time. I can't say if I noticed the various crests, and if I did, I didn't pay much attention to them, which made this interesting. With Link's belt in the way his crest somewhat resembles a bed, which given his history of starting a game sleeping, it would also be appropriate.

Very cool theory! I've been playing through Skyward sword again and it's amazing to see just how much lore is packed into this game. It's especially fun to look at it after playing totk. Lots of references and similarities. It's got my theory brain cooking.
  • @mahaofhyrule
What a fascinating theory! I never noticed the different crests on the Skyloftians so it was awesome to hear your thoughts about it. The whole idea of the crimson loftwing mark on the Hylian shield blew my mind as well!
  • @Gamemaster6400
Honestly i love whenever someone goes in depth on the details in skyward sword, its probably my second or third fav traditional Zelda and i love when it gets love
  • Gossip: this is just my way of saying THANK YOU you for being there when I really needed it. You have helped me in so many ways and I just wanted to REPAY the favor!!! ~ JonseyG 👲💖

Wow, I can’t believe I’ve played this game over 5 times and never noticed this. Great vid!!
  • @snoozepooze2171
I couldn’t tell you how long it’s been since I’ve seen some good SkySw content
  • @TinyFicus
I love Skyward Sword to bits, and I’ve never noticed such details!!! Thank you so much!!
  • @raffaelm6558
I only played Skyward Sword 3 times, twice on the Wii and once on Switch where I enjoyed it way more than ever before (without motion control) and only that time I fully realized how amazing and alive Skyloft is. It's really one of the best towns in the series tbh but even then I hadn't noticed all these details you showed here. Absolutely amazing video.
  • @SytRReD
I always understood Skyward Sword's Link to be himself the original hero that defeated Demise - indeed he does so, in the past... "prior" to this Demise had only been sealed by Hylia, by a very fragile seal that necessitated future reincarnated Hylia to reinforce it by freezing herself in a crystal. Anyway Skyward Sword is a great game and awesome lore-wise, but so full of inconsistencies at the same time... I really love all these things you've discovered about everyone on Skyloft! So interesting!
  • Wow never had seen anything about the crests in this game. Fantastic video! One of the best Zelda lore videos from any channel in a while, super original idea with a lot of supporting evidence and a cool theory about the original incarnation of link! Love it!
  • @galaxystarroad
Wow! I wasn't expecting so much stuff with these symbols. Something I came across so many times and I haven't payed attention to holds so much possible information about these people. I loved this video! ❤️ Have a nice day!
