Wow. This is such an informative video. When Charlie plays the P3 he sounds a lot like Wynton. Love Charlie's playing on all the horns!!!

Charlie Porter has been my favorite trumpeter since I found him. When he plays his Monette he sounds like liquid gold poured down from heaven. What an incomparable master.
  • Being a trumpet player myself and after meeting Wynton Marsalis in person and hearing him play on one of these is absolutely breath-taking. Luv the Raja P2, looking forward to buying one some day! My hats off to Monette, all I can say is WOW, genius level creations, keep up the great work!

Dave Monette walked into the shop where I worked as an instrument repairman in the early 1980's in Chicago. I helped him bore out a mouthpiece receiver for a prototype he was working on at the time. I had no idea who he was or who he would become. I still have an extra receiver he left behind as proof.

This is like watching a F1 driver test the newest Ferrarris and Lamborghinis.

Dave is a GREAT friend and I am so proud of what he has done. I was involved with training him many years ago and I knew he was special back then. He always wanted to know if he did a certain repair to the horn what would it do to the sound. He is and always will be a "special" person to me!

The P2 sounded like a Sax at the end. Means the player and the horn are pretty epic. I’ve wanted a Raja since 1990 something. Great job to both the maker and the player.
  • I’m not a trumpet player and I never even heard of a Monette until tonight, when I saw Wynton on PBS NewsHour playing bits of and talking about The Democracy! Suite, his latest work. I’m listening, listening, listening, and the cameras are showing various shots, and then all of a sudden I’m looking at the horn and said – out loud – what the hell is that?! This unpolished horn that looks like it’s all one piece from mouthpiece to bell, just sounded so flawless. I had to look it up. I’m just blown away by these horns. Whether or not they even play, the design is just stunning. But, man! Do they play!
  • My dad went and visited the factory when he was on a business trip. I play a bach strad right now and I would do anything to play a monette

Love this instrument. Not too simple and not too complex. Not too big and not too small. And it sounds and looks beautiful!
  • I loved everyone, but Raja P2 was the one I felt the most connection with. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
