The conflict between Israel and Hamas is moving to a full scale ground invasion, which could lead to a massive regional war. Because this isn’t just a war between Israel and Hamas- other countries, militaries, and militias are watching what’s happening in Gaza, and they all have their own agendas.

I wish I could have fit so much more into this video. The whole history of how this region got to look like this is key context that I didn't have room to include in this geopolitics piece. For those who want the bigger picture, Youtuber Real Life Lore has this series that dives into it. It's available on the streaming platform Nebula (where I put all my videos early and ad free too): >>>>> nebula.tv/videos/real-life-lore-modern-conflicts-i… >Link to my nebula page where you can get a discount ($2.50/month) : nebula.tv/johnnyharris If you sign up using this link a big portion of your subscription goes directly to support my channel and journalism (I hope this didn't come off as spammy to anyone. Nebula is creator owned and it's one way I can make these in-depth videos by hiring a larger and larger team to bring you better and better videos. Thanks for your support!) -Johnny
  • You didn’t mention the details for Egypt’s refusal of allowing Palestinians through the border. As soon as Israel declared war, they and the US tried to convince the Egyptian government into allowing Palestinians to “reside temporarily” in Sinai, even offering to negate all external debt. However, if they are allowed passage, a new resistance organisation would arise that would, not only endanger the lives of Egyptian civilians in Sinai, but also attack Israeli forces from their positions. This would give Israel the perfect justification to attack Egyptian lands while the government would have no right to defend or reprimand. The Egyptian prime minister’s speech was hinting at this possibility. The Egyptian government isn’t allowing Palestinians out of inhumane treatment (they have been the primary suppliers of medical aid and food etc. to the people of Gaza in the Arab world), but it is because doing so would further escalate the conflict and undermine the cause of the Palestinian civilians.

I'm sorry for all the civilians, either Israeli or Palestinians that have to suffer because of this conflict. Regular people with normal problems are dragged into an unwanted war. I hope they all stay safe.
  • @fakhrimatar1240
Definitely would’ve liked to see more about the media blackouts and interference that’s been happening
  • @Wickerss
What I found interesting, is over in the UK the US’s involvement is virtually nonexistent in the news. I didn’t even realise troops had been deployed/stationed. Just interesting how different countries focus on different aspects of this awful conflict.
  • @jackhoeh7941
I know it would be difficult, but I would’ve loved a bit more analysis on the breaches of the wall. How one of the most prepared intelligence agencies was caught pants down.
  • Thank you for stating the facts and not bringing anything else into it. It’s difficult to find straight forward information like this about such a controversial conflict.
  • @freezeemagee
Honestly, this video simplifies things way too much. Starting from Oct 7th is incredibly misleading; and while I understand that you can only fit so into a video, people really need the history of Israel and Palestine to understand why this is happening.
  • It literally hurts that innocent people, kids and families are caught in between all of this. People who wanted nothing to do with this. People who don’t have a home or a country to defend them and their rights. People on both sides who are prisons and casualties or war. My heart goes out to them, and I pray that somehow they are led to safety and that this war ends, and that thay sovereignty is returned to each and every person.
  • @user-et3bo8gs7u
You neglected to mention the normalization talks between Israel and Saudi Arabia and how they would have shifted the balance of power in the Middle East out of Iran's favor. It seems that the Oct. 7th attacks were initiated in retaliation to those talks, demonstrating a high level of communication between Hamas and Iran.
  • @houssem1994
Bro dont lie the conflict didn't start 7th October
  • @coreycox724
Love this video you break everything down so anyone can understand what exactly is going on thank you keep up the awesome videos
  • @EyoNathaniel
How did Isreal get their nukes when other counties are warned not to?
  • @brandedmagnus909
Hey Johnny, Egyptian here. I think you got the Egyptian PM's statement wrong. Perhaps due to translation. He was addressing the tribes in Sinai in regards to any ATTACK on Sinai from any party (probably referring to the drone attacks, and the Israeli tank that hit an Egyptian outpost). But he was not talking about refugees. (Not saying that Egypt will take them in, just correcting you) Side note: I'm a big fan!
  • @dukeon
Well, it’s late January 2024 and cooler heads most definitely have not prevailed. This year’s not looking good geopolitically. Thanks for your videos Johnny, they’re always informative, well made, and fair. And props to you for giving a shout out to Real Life Lore. I basically gobble up anything that either of you guys put out. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
  • Thanks Johnny – I’ve been avoiding the news but wanted to stay conscious of the war and acknowledge the the heartbreaking losses. This video was hard to watch and I pray for all the victims ❤ love from UK
  • @ShiftyGeeza
Could someone do a video on how a state that receives billions in military aid yearly, has one of the most advanced military equipment, has one of the most highly regarded intelligence and surveillance capabilities in the world, just allowed literally a handful of paragliders, motorbike gangs, pickup trucks and a bulldozer to roam freely in their territory for 6 hours?
  • @BryceMacEvoy
This is so much more concise than hearing politicians and tiktokers throw out their opinions about this conflict. Thank you!
  • Really great information, I now have a deeper understanding of the war and the intricacies of this conflict.
