UNREAL NIGHT VISION!!! - SiOnyx Sport Camera Review

Published 2020-02-04
We recently had the opportunity to learn about the SiOnyx Sport, which is an excellent night vision option that blew our minds recently. This tool literally turns night into day and is unbelievably economical in regards to pricing.

For $599 (adjusted from $399 sale price at the time the video was shot), you can step into a product that gives you 100% confidence while navigating out on the water at night. Check out our experience and let us know what you think!

We wanted one of this to see the critters in our backyard. youtube.com/post/UgkxGix1RueFf66g4dKZ0w4Qsw_3Vv6Xq… The first thing that I like about this is that it has a rechargeable battery. The other is that it is small and fairly easy to use. The instructions weren't too great but we played with it awhile and figured it out. Can see very well in our back yard down to the woods which is roughly a football field length in the dark. There were certainly more expensive ones out there but this works for us and was within our price range. We have not tried the video recording portion and may update the review later.
  • That’s awesome man love the video! This would be perfect for me in Jersey when we’re trolling for stripers at night. Sure beats a spot light and slow rolling near the coast looking for debris. You got my sub. Stay safe out there capt.

I found it amazing how this units picture clarity and resolution made the flir unit look like 1950's black & white tv compared to a modern SUHD Television
  • That’s some AMAZING Night Image. Would be great for Photography if it only had an attachment
  • I know this video is a bit dated, but now there are gimble operated camera mounts used on RC Airplanes that you can pair with wearable goggles, so where you look the camera can rotate accordingly. It gives you a birds eye view and permits an even more immersive experience. Not just what is otherwise a point and set arrangement.

I have one of these, in addition to my FLIR M364C. The statement that thermal cameras pick up a heat signature, isn’t quite accurate. They detect differences in temperature. I’ve yet to find a channel marker or a bridge that isn’t a different temperature than the water. FLIR also works in pitch black darkness, where this becomes useless.
  • great job on the video content, I really really appreciate a real world side by side comparison, Not like the others who show one system from shore, or worse in their garage,,,,lol Thanks again I am sold,,
  • Great tool and nice to see it streaming through the tablet. Is it possible to connect it to directly to your Simrad unit and add another option to see it there as opposed to watching it on a seperate unit?
  • @madal55
Great test, especially with the split screen comparisons!!
  • @jwhit3849
It took until 8:30 to show the capabilities of the unit.
  • That's cool, but I wanted to see the stars in the night sky... well actually the UFOs flying around in the sky... that's the reason for my interest in this product.
  • Good thing you took it out on a boat otherwise I don’t know how we ever could have given it a fair test. Seems like some bikini clad models and daiquiris would have helped with the testing too.

I'm interested in finding out if this will work for stargazing. Recently tried military grade goggles and blew my mind looking at the night sky.

Cool Stuff!!! Would be nice to see it connected to an iPad with a good screen and by wire to see if the picture quality increases and if there is less lag.

That camera is really impressive for night vision for sure. I’m sure the sales to drug runners will go up exponentially if they see your video.😳😬😁
  • @stefanEf
Very interesting video! This camera can for sure avoid crashes during night on sea!
  • The most awesome scope are the ones that combines both the FLIR and SiOnyx on one screen.

I like it but it’s not what I thought. I figured it would have a fold out screen and the zoom feature was like using binocular type zooming and not a type of click zoom. Otherwise it’s ok
