  • We have 6 under strength Infantry battalions. We have no offensive drones. We have no SPA. We have no missiles. We have no medium lift capability. WE are 20 years behind the 8 ball. We need this now not in 10 years.
  • Simon, that's four minutes of my life I will never get back. Word salad: marketing spin with no detail.

A few Chinese get off a small boat in the Kimberly, wander into a RAAF base and ask whats for dinner. Good job they weren't PLA commandos, half the airforce would have trashed on the ground.
  • ADF for Australian citizens ONLY - We are not a mercenary force.
  • It actually makes me angry hearing about the army's recruitment issues. I tried joining the ADF twice about 15 years ago at ages 17 and 23, and both times I got knocked back with no reason given. I wanted to serve but wasn't allowed the opportunity. However, in the end it might have been a blessing because my cousin served for about 7 years and got out and he said that it wasn't at all what it was cracked up to be.

For a small limited force we can see drones as the multiplier. Just look at Ukraine...
  • What an absolute load of word salad that means nothing. When are we going to get someone who pulls the government on and tells them exactly what the ADF lacks before it can even begin to look like what he's jibbering about. They must have the same briefing team as the ABC. 😮

I think the greatest single ally we have is the zero land border with any other country. From my very happy to declare uneducated, zero-time in the ADF viewpoint, the Navy should be our strongest force (new nuclear subs.... best decision ever) followed shoulder to shoulder by our air capability. If the Army is in a shooting war on Australian soil, a hell of a lot of things have gone badly wrong and Australian sovereignty stands in the balance. The Russian war in Ukraine shows the stark reality of current day warfare, how can all Australian forces handle that unthinkable situation?
  • The directions of Australia's ADF have been made. As good as the new submarines are, I believe Australia needs to triple the number of full-time soldiers. When war breaks out and conscription starts, Australia will not have time for training the civilian population to do anything. It will be a meat grinder.

So proud of you all. Thank you for all you continue to do for us.

Also the uniforms look old and past its used by date! Our soldiers should invoke fear among enemies! We need to dress the part
  • In 67-68 I was the driver for the then CGS (Chief of the General Staff) now designated as Chief of Army. The long hours and dedication to service was his hallmark I will always remember. I am proud to see how the last 50+ years has brought our Army even closer together to serve our nation. Our forces are only as good as the officers that lead them. We are in good hands.
  • @TheRpg1964
Should have always been an integrated force!

NASAAMS does bugger all for defending major bases, don’t pretend it’s something it’s not. In reality all it does in reduce the AMRAAM magazine depth for platforms that can actually have some effect (F-35,F-18)

    Congratulations! Much needed advancement
