This episode (in the original) was genuinely terrible for Joey, they could have had Joey's final battle be beating Yugi's grandpa who was his mentor and genuinely considered a pretty good duelist and have him end his dueling career in a respectful way. But instead they made this episode which added nothing of value aside from making the filler villain look a little more intimidating at the cost of Joey's dignity. At least in GX they made it a little better with Pegasus saying that Joey was the third best duelist in the world only being beaten by Kaiba at second place and Yugi being first.

The joke with the Samurai is that it's called Sasuke Samurai so LK's using his Sasuke voiced he used in Naruto Abridged. And the reason for the inclusion of lines like "Joey deserves better" or "he's come a long way" is because, in terms of the Anime, This is his last on-screen Duel, and it ended in a Loss
  • @Pylo-ry6ff
So the Kaiba bit at the end is because joey actually does have a decent record in the show (by comparison anyway) but two episodes ago was the last win he will ever have. Also, I think you missed the part where Yugi said he was so glad that the Pharoah said "screen."
  • @slashermaster28
I'm still amazed it only took Joey 8.5 seconds to realize Zigfried called him a monkey.

Its easy to forget, but Joey normally wins his duels. Over the course of the series, he has beaten lots of duelists who were considered national level champions. Even when he loses, there is usually a point where it seems like he could win. That wasn't really the case in this duel, it was basically a one sided slaughter
  • 20:20 If you don't get the joke, the card is Sasuke Samurai, and LittleKuriboh is paying homage to his Naruto Abridged by using the voice/gags he used for Sasuke.

Your question of when Sherlock Homes entered the public domain is a bit complicated. He first entered the public domain in 1981. But then in 1995, the law was changed to extend copyright so he left the public domain and waited to re-enter the public domain untill 2000.

3:35-3:40: That actually was a 4Kids line right there in this filler arc and ironicially given what happens in future Yu-Gi-Oh series it's very accurate. 7:20-7:25: It kind of was the main plot point of the arc, as Zigfried, the main villian, entered the Tournament to wreck it, ruin Kaiba's reputation and allow his company to finally become number 1 instead of Kaiba's. 15:58-16:04: Looking back at this filler arc and the remaining Duels LittleKuriboh still has to cover, you're actually pretty right on that. We have 3 Duels(technically 4 Duels but two happen in the same episode so they count as one) left for this arc, so that means three episodes left for LK to make before were done with this filler arc and we can finally get back to the main plot and Bakura can finally get his screen time in episode 90. And we can expect a lot of kink moments in those last three Duels. The first one is Rebecca vs Leon and Leon uses Fairy Tail Monsters like Red Riding Hood, and one of those Monsters is Cinderella who comes with the Equip Spell Glass Slippers and before those Slippers are equiped we see her bare feet, but then her effect allows her to equip her Slippers other Monsters. In the Rebecca Duel he equiped her Slippers to Rebecca's Luster Dragon #2, so we had a big Dragon wearing Glass Slippers. Knowing LittleKkuriboh he'll probably make a joke about how a Dragon wearing Glass Slippers turns someone on. The next Duel doesn't really have anything overtly kinky in it, but the Duel is going to be Kaiba vs Zigfried and given what this abridge has done to Zigfried's character this Duel will essentially be Kaiba vs Pegasus 2.0 and we all know how Kaiba vs Ppegasus Duels go in the abridged series. Then the last Duel is Yugi vs Leon where Leon again uses Cinderella only this time she equips her Slippers onto Dark Magician Girl so we see her feet without her boots before the Slippers equip. This filler arc is werid. 25:30-26:16: Actually Abridged Kaiba vocing his anger at Joey lossing in Round 2 is very meta as it reflects how many of u the fans feel about this Duel. Because you see this is Joey's last On-Screen Duel and it's a pretty embarassing loss.Because Joey is legitmatlly a good Duelists, he relays a little too much on luck based cards, but he's still got a decent amount of skill and is seen by many both in and out of Universe as the thrid strongest Duelist out there only behind Kaiba and Yugi obviosuly. His Duels against Valon and Mai in the previous Oricalcos arc are some of his best and really show how strong he is and how far he's come. And back in Bbattle City he legitamatlly was going to beat Marik the big bad of that season had he not sucumbed to his injuries. So to have this be his last Duel just feels like a slap in the face to the character. It isn't that he lost, it's how bad and hummilating the loss is. Sure he's lost before like to Kaiba in Battle City or Mai in the Oricalcos ar, but in those Duels he put up a very good fight and it felt like he had a chance to win and that the Duels were about an even match. But here against Zigfried it was mostly one-sided, Zigfried was in complete control of the match using his Godess cards to destroy Joey's Deck and prevent him from doing anything, destroying Joey's ace Monster very easily, and so on. And then to add insult to injury this loss comes in the second round of the Tournament not even giving Joey the diginity of at least lossing in the Semi-Finals or soemthing. Abridged Kaiba is right Joey is a way better Duelist then this and deserved better this arc.

The sad part is that this was Joey’s last duel in the series. And they made it one of Joey’s worst ones.
  • @PizzaMineKing
The anime did joe dirty with this being his last duel.
  • @Bezaliel13
Remember that Joey used gamble cards because he could not really get good ones. Pity dice/coin cards are actually rather few in number. Huckman: "Wait, how did he hack the candles?"
  • Yes, I remember that Joey bricked in this duel, and one of the few times that people in the anime that have bricked in the anime. Also loved all the references in this episode, as a big Kamen Rider Fan, I was happy that LittleKuriboh became a big fan about last year and would talk about it a lot on Twitter, and made the reference of Kamen Rider Zolda from Kamen Rider Ryuki, and the sound effect of Kamen Rider Gotchard used when Joey used the Gacha Machine. Also the old reference of Emo Sasuke from his NinjaAbridged which has been a long time that I heard from him. Also Littlekuriboh getting into Yakuza for a while now, and the reference to Max C as a problem card, and the fact that baby valkyrie doesn't exist but there are support cards that are kids with baby horses in the card art made after the cards came out.
  • @Cardlimits
I don't dislike the idea that kaiba eventually respects Joey, but I feel it would be much later, but I know this is the only relevant time.
  • To be perfectly fair, Joey, unlike most decks in this show, actually had a game plan, as horribly unreliable as it was. Most other characters just kinda played a bunch of cards that were vaguely related to one another, cough yugi cough
  • @Pylo-ry6ff
The Google it guy is balfrey Ginger (i didn't google it so I probably spelled that wrong).
  • Joey is a good duelist 😂 he just gets done dirty sometimes. Actually he suffers the same thing that Vegeta suffers from: The Warf effect. (I forgot the name of it 😅, but basically it’s when a strong guy gets washed easily or in general to show the strength or seriousness of the opponent that’s to come) Edit: I put the actual name on there but I thought delve the definition there in parentheses all the same.
  • @EditDeath
About hacking a hat... you ever heard of smart fabrics, or smart textiles? Yeah, I don't know whether you can hack that yet, but I can't imagine it'll be long before you can
  • @filipvadas7602
Joey actually has a pretty good track record considering how genuinely terrible his deck is at the start of Battle City and how many times he went up against opponents who were regional champions and/or cheating This duel with Siegfried, however, is his last duel in the series and the fact that it was a one sided slaughter to sell the villain of this arc is just disappointing
  • @Fang1st
Joey was an impressive duelist, he was basically the underdog with weak cards that managed to overcome the odds against his opponents. He would have actually beat Marik in their shadow duel if he didn't lose consciousness, and he beat Yugi to get his Red-Eyes back. I think the only major character he didn't beat was Kaiba. Also Ninjabridge references are best references.
  • @huggelion
12:29 maxx c is that a modern yugioh reference has little kuriboh been playing master duel
