Stihl MS500i Fuel Injected: Is It Really Worth The Hype??

Published 2019-04-23
The world's first saw without a carburetor is here. Meet the Stihl MS500i. The "i" stands for innovation and injection. The acceleration is extremely fast and the power to weight ratio is amazing. Watch our review of this high-tech saw. Here is the link to the video about the Swedish Iron Horse:    • Swedish Iron Horse: Is It Time to Upg...

I've had a chainsaw without a carburetor for years. I really should rebuild the carb and put it back on.

I used to work at a Stihl dealer a few years ago. I remember the Stihl rep talking about this new fuel injected saw that they were working on. Nice to see it turned out well.

Regular TV is so bad these days I find myself up late watching tool videos. LoL

Ebay be like : " Tuning chip for Stihl MS500i +20% power +25% economy Android and iOS app monitor your saw remotely , tuning on the fly ...

I have a MS460. I just choke it. Pull 1-2 times most times, at most 3 times and it starts. Great saw! I have had it for awhile and I'm pretty darn sure its just as strong as brand new. I never use the decompression button either. My go to saw is a MS261 its light and runs a 20 inch bar really well. I cut Ash and Oak mostly.

It's always good to see Tim and his mad skills again. Thanks Simeon. I'll never need a saw like that one, but it's interesting to see where the industry is headed.

"Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! When I used to live up in the Northwest Wisconsin backwoods, near Madge (Spooner too). My great loves were my Pioneer P25 (3.1 cu.in. ) & P50 (5.0 cu.in.) chainsaws. The P25 did most all of my cutting. But my P50, "the screamer", was used for the "big schtoof", especially red & white oaks (hard as granite!). I was in my mid 30s in those mid & later 1970s (I'm now 79). How I greatly miss those most wonderful years as a bachelor & strong as "a bull" (stinky as one too!)!!! Owned 120 acres all to myself & my nearest & only neighbor was a mile away! Got down to -60°s one winter! Always carried a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 magnum with me in the woods. I've had a very blessed life!!! I try to thank God for it all, in Christ Jesus!!!!! "Gesundheit" & put annudder birch log on the fire for me poleaze! Miss those most wunnerful smells of a wood fire! But the Lord has blessed me well for this rest of my life too, now living in the "civilized" far north central Illinois.

Great combo with the saw and iron horse. Power and minimal footprint stacking saw logs. Nice to see you guys working wood. Good luck with good weather, great pastures and gardens this year.
  • All you kids and your technology, I still have my 2 man saw and it works great!
  • @maddmason9520
I’ll buy one eventually. I’ve used their cutoff saws with this technology and they’re no joke. I’ve never owned a bad Stihl product yet.
  • This was very interesting. And I had not heard of this saw before. I will send this to my brother. It may serve his needs. Thanks, Michael in northern California.
  • @tacticalant3841
The guy in orange at 3:00 reminds me of one of the kids on American Bandstand. When asked how they like the new song, they all say in a monotone voice “ it has a good beat and easy to dance to”.
  • @mikemichael8683
One thing I wanna share to all about Stihl Chain Saw, bought it in 1989 and until now still working in good condition. Amazing Stihl!
  • @samtuck6400
I'll have to say that time brings changes and this is just a natural progression. Fuel injection is the future for numerous reasons and yes it is extremely reliable in today's engines. I'm sure it will be just as reliable in smaller engines as it is developed. As my dad use to say, "boys the days they are a changing!" A truer statement has never been made!
  • Always a great day when I can watch a Swedish Homestead saw review! (Several times!)
  • I love you Boys channel. I’m a professional woodcutter from Scotland. We have a saying. An inch at the bottom is worth a foot at the top. You need to get your stumps lower lads. Or do you not have aviation in Sweden 🤣🤣
  • @ec6933
This is great and all but these new high end electric saws are getting pretty good and my 1976 carb stihl is still running great
