Cascade and Porter Mountains are often the first Adirondack 46ers people climb. Eric makes Cascade and Porter his first Winter 46ers. These mountains have great 360° views of the Cascade Lakes and Lake Placid, along with Big Slide Mountain.

Cascade and Porter are climbed together and often people's first High Peaks. Even though they are considered "beginner" peaks, they do not disappoint with their approach and views.

Any recommendations on where to stay for this as a day hike? Looks like there are a couple Lake Placid hotels ~$100/night. That a reasonable option?

If people are going to start bringing bagpipes to the high peaks, then I guess I'll have to start bringing my sniper rifle. ;)
