The Caterpillar 6060FS is a 600 tonne class face shovel. It can be seen here loading autonomous 793 haul trucks using Cat's Minestar system. More details to follow on the revolution of automation in the mining industry.

  • Not sure which is more impressive: Filling a mining haul truck in 3 scoops or, the billing invoice Cat delivered for equipment and maintenance?

I can't get over the fact that there are NO drivers in those trucks!! That to me is amazing. They maneuver really well.

At approx. 8:28 you see Truck #56 pull out with a load. At 9:02 you see #56 heading up the haul road on the right, and at 9:31 #56 appears on the upper bench where at 10:10 it dumps its load onto the bench below. From where the dozer pushes dirt over the edge for the shovel to load onto trucks...again. Must be practicing 🤔

That Cat 6060 looks amazing in 4K, great job!

So.. Truck 1 gets a load and drives off, truck 2 backs in and loads, meanwhile truck 1 goes to top of hill and dumps load over the edge so the dozer can push it over the hill to fill truck 2... So.. is this job security for robots? or some fancy way of making gravel?

I like the way the 6060's bucket opens, genius.
  • We are also loading autonomous truck with 7495 cat electric shovel. I love it. Highly productive. The truck are perfect were you spot them every time

Snap, snap, snap. Hey shovel-face how's daddy's little girl doing today?

Caterpillar machines rule the earth 🌍

The trucks are dumping at the top of the pile. The dozer is pushing it down the pile to be reloaded. When the human supervisor gets back on duty who will be blamed for this futile activity. The best video I have seen to promote the need for dumper drivers.

Many of the commenters here are referring negatively to automation. Automation is inherently more efficient. To do something more efficiently makes the end result cheaper and helps improve our overall standard of living. This is how nature works, people. Adapt faster and be more efficient and survive. Failure means to die out, whether its in business or in nature. Automation is coming whether we like it or not, what we have to do as individuals is adapt and survive, not stick our heads in the sand and wish it all away. Lets control the game, not be victims of it.
  • @rjfrenette1
Are they dumping right back up top above the dozer? Or am I just looking at it wrong
  • @seeinstripes
So the 6060 loads the dumptrucks which drive around up top and empty. The dozer pushes it over to the 6060. The 6060 puts it back on the dumptruck. Like that big loader toy from 1980.
  • @chalemi
The blade on that dozer is so shiny you could eat off of it!
  • я не понимаю что происходит . грузовик объезжает вокруг и высыпает сверху , после этого бульдозер сталкивает вниз и экскаватор опять грузит в грузовик . и так по кругу ? I do not understand what's going on . the truck goes around and pours out from above, after that the bulldozer pushes down and the excavator loads it into the truck again. and so in a circle?
  • @SupermanJH68
The irony is that John Deere recently figured out how to load a truck autonomously. They applied it to their forage harvesters. Great call, putting Trimble GPS on the shovel. Fantastic machine
  • @Glitch-nr9ct
How soon until the shovel itself is fully autonomous too? Fascinating and a little scary at the same time.
  • 66 tons one scoop, 3 scoops weight 200 tons, that's the payload of the cat 793F dump truck can haul.
