A Great Monster for D&D& Campaigns | A Different look on Goblins

Goblins are a great monster in Dungeons and Dragons. Sometimes Goblins are a beloved playable race in some D&D games. However, when you want a great BBEG or Great bad guy faction in Dungeons and Dragons, goblins can be that. Goblins can make for the perfect bad guy when you take them from Race to to Monster.

  • Points at Goblin Slayer (light novel, manga and anime) that. Thats how you make Goblins a horrible monster. Even high level parties can get wiped by underestimating these cruel and evil things.

People seem to forget, but rules for monsters as PCs go all the way back to 2E. The expectation, though, is that this was the exception, not the rule. It is my contention that the elimination of racial tendencies, such as an evil-aligned race, has watered down 5E RAW into some kind of powder puff game with no teeth in it. If noting is evil, then there is no good. And I think that's a dangerous concept to perpetuate. But I digress .... Great concept on goblinoids. You could even scale that to include orcs and giants!
