The Insane LORE of Epic Monculus

Im fascinated by the Algaernons too, as they were entirely the brainchild of the Monster Handlers. Quinn and Chris created whole entire concepts for the Monster Handlers to use for their rares, which are amazing close to how they (will) appear in game! I had created a much more holiday themed concept as well, but decided I didn't like it as Month of the Mythical III was right around the corner, and since i couldn't work out another full design in time, I pretty much just asked them to go crazy with the concept of a leaf sheep Cherubble. After spending some time with it, I do like what they've created quite a lot! I have a personal headcanon that the Rare Cherubble doesn't have nearly as much of a connection to Dreamcraft as the common Cherubble does, it just gets to be lazy since the sun and the Algaernons do all the work in terms of feeding it

The big clangor was the big bang event for the monsters, when the celestials were born, but after it settled, the dust was used to form epic monculus, and also formed into keys, which is why they have the ability to evolve monsters.

Algaernons have jazz hands and I love that. Anything to do with the Clangor gets me in 👀 mode, though that's mainly because I am a big darn Celestial fan and so primordial monster world history is highly relevant to my interests. Also the term "divine Discord call" was great.

Headcannon: (my teacher just had me read the book lol) The colossals tried to make the rare cherubble smart because it was very dumb. Slowly it grew in intelligence and learned how to use the Algernons to create food for itself. Throughout this process it fell in love with (idk) epic monculus (they came out together) and slowly as Cherubble (rare) regressed in intelligence it forgot who epic monculus was in relation to it. Soon after the first algernon (rare cherubble had a very deep bond with that one) died. And every day cherubble would give flowers to the algernon. Eventually the cherubble completely lost all of the mental ability it had. (That is why it always sleeps) It left Epic Monculus due to the fact that it knew it was not able to do what it used to and only remembered monculus as a higher up (parental figure). And it left to hide in the living ocean until the monster handlers discovered it.
