1941 Caterpillar D2 Battling Cedar Trees Spring 2022

The escape from suburbia is well underway.

Since the 1941 Caterpillar D2 5J crawler tractor equalizing spring perch was repaired the D2 can really pull and push hard without the nose raising up.

This episode of field work is of pulling down cedar/juniper trees. This is prep work to secure my rural acreage and accommodate the installation of electrical utilities.

Juniperus Virginiana is a type of evergreen tree native to the eastern half of the United States and is also known as Red Cedar, Aromatic Cedar and other names. This property is covered with these invasive pioneer trees. Most are up to 40 years old and some over 50. This probably means this property was not in any kind of meaningful agricultural use since the late 1960s or early 1970s.

This video makes use of a small "Action Camera". Unfortunately the white balance and sound are not ideal but it provided some unique imagery. The documentation provided with this budget camera is rather sparse. Settings have mostly by trial and error and its use is a work in progress.
