Ken Kaneki, an ordinary boy who had a faithful encounter with Rize who happened to be the strongest ghoul to exist. Ghouls in this world are considered man eating demons that hide their presence in the shadows and feed on human flesh to survive. Thinking that Rize was human and had the same interest; Kaneki chose to ask Rize out on a date. Only to soon realize he was the main dish.

Unfortunately for Kaneki he awoken in a bed finding himself between a mixture of a human and a ghoul. As he attempts to cling to the remaining of his humanity other agents are already making their move to eliminate ghouls as some other Ghouls are looking for Kaneki in the sake of their revenge.
